The food wasn’t tasty, cocktails full of ice, poor flavor. We also ate at rokka and the sushi in general wasn’t good. The experience doesn’t match the food.

Amazing experience! Botaniko never fails to impress! We ordered a bunch of dishes from the new menu and can't wait to go back and try the rest! We shared the Tira de Asado, Mussels and a couple of our all time favorites like the Tomate...al horno and Empanadas. The service was top notch as always! The cocktails were great, and compared to other restaurants the prices are very fair. 5 stars all over!!!More

On my humble opinion, the food was good, totally good, but the prices are super high, I can understand they probably put the best sources on it, but is not enough, for those prices, the food has to be more than just good, for example...the ceviche was really good, but nothing special and quite small, and our Mole super salty, and ruined on my opinion the entire chicken, there's some things that you can handle it, but this kind of mistakes make me think about it, the service was great. I don't like comparisons, but also argentinian is the Esquina de Buenos Aires, and they never fail, and the prices are reasonable.More

cocktails: weak menu/flavorless drink (resembled a fruit punch) food: only things worth it were the chilera and octopus gallo tasted pretty good but its supposed to be something to share yet the orders come in 1? 1/2 chicken with mole nothing special, couldve easily been...from rostipollos. ordered tomato for side (which came cold) and pineapple that was supposed to be roasted, yet it was colder than the tomato. service was decent, place is very nice though. would never go back - you can have a much better and larger meal at Furca or Zonna. Guard at the entrance could have a little course in basic customer service as well.More

This place has managed to set a fantastic menu based on great Costa Rican dishes. Lots of dishes for sharing. Simple but great cuisine. You will love the place, its service and hipster atmosphere. Don't forget to visit the speakeasy behind the beer freezer.😃

We were there with a large group of family and friends. We did not pay for this dinner, so I cant say how much it was. The pickled vegetables in jars were the 1st spicy food I had while on vacation in San Jose. Ask...for more since they will be gone before you know it. We ordered lots of food and shared it. What I liked best: the gnocchi, tomahawk steak, cauliflower, guacamole, trout, chicken, Heineken locally brewed, empanadas, roasted veggies and ceviche. Others had cocktails. Our party of 25 pretty much ordered everything on the menu. Recommended are the beets, cauliflower, the pickles at the table, goat cheese tomatoes, and the trout potatoes, oh and the guacamole too. Dishes are small and good for sharing. Staff was excellent and great...atmosphere. Dont miss out the heineken fridge!!More

I have been to the restaurant in three different occasions and I am always impressed by the service, the quality of the ingredients, the fair price, the presentation of the plates and the ambiance. I specially recommend their ceviche, their tuna and the roasted vegetables....I also cannot ever finish my meal without the most incredible arroz con leche ever!!!More

I heard tons of great reviews from friends and decided to celebrate my birthday in Botaniko. Not only the atmosphere is amazing, every single dish we order was outstanding both in terms of flavor and presentation. The whole concept of the restaurant is innovative and...offers something never before seen in San Jose, by mixing traditional Costa Rican foods with Argentinian style. I would recommend the Milanesa, a tender breaded pork-chop topped with a delicious pico de gallo style salad; and the Gnocchi, with a luscious cheese sauce. You won’t regret spending great time in the outdoors area for a fantastic dinner and then walking into their private bar with delicious cocktails to have a great end to your night. The place is gorgeous, hipster style floor and tables, huge mural, low lighting, fancy bar... very "instagramable"... but that's the high of the night. Service is corteous but slow and mediocre. The food is.... not great... just average. In fact my fish was undercooked... left...about 25% of it because it was raw. The tables are too small for the HUGE plates they serve the TINY food in. Took them about 20 minutes to process my check and payment since we were leaving at rush hour for the night. It's a nice place... but the cool look doesn't make up for the less than average food and service.More

Good but not great restaurant. Very nice decoration and setting. The food is sincerely good, but it is definitely not great. It has been very well marketed as the best chef in town. Don’t get me wrong. It is good. However not up to the...best in town. We will be back.More
