We always have lunch here when traveling to the Northern Rivers. The food - sandwich which we have are excellent and reasonably priced - the coffee is good and we can sit out in the beer garden and which looks over the Clarence River.

I understand that sometimes people have bad days but if your job is customer service and you can't greet somebody with a simple hello or fake a smile instead of saying what do you want a moping around with rbf then maybe find a new job. Otherwise the location is really nice and the food came out quickly. The salmon... More

Had a couple of drinks before dinner on the banks of the mighty Clarence River. Had the t-bone which was excellent. Great salad and chips. Kids enjoyed their kids meals. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a very good evening. Will return.

Well worth the stop, a tranquil gem on the banks of the Clarence River. Yummy homemade scones, beautiful outlook and topped off by a wander around the delightful little town.

Found the Ulmarra tavern; a traditionally styled pub. Deceptive from the outside the cafe served a lovely modern Australian cuisine. The cafe extends out to a beautiful expansive and shady beer garden on the banks of the River Clarence. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We travelled on a Friday so I'd suggest checking their opening times.

Lovely garden setting for a simple pub meal, as the sun sets over the Clarence. Limited menu, but wholesome fare.

Finding good food in a nice location is a challenge on road trips. This one is a beauty! 1 block off the highway in Ulmarra, 40k north of Grafton, Cafe Clarence offers respite from the traffic in a peaceful setting on the banks of the Clarence. Food and coffee was good & service quick. We stopped for a sandwich but... More

Opening Hours Breakfast and Lunch 8.30am - 2.30 pm (7days) Dinner 6.00pm - 8.30pm Tues- Sat Outstanding Coffee This is a delightful cafe/restaurant that provides excellent low priced meals in a setting on the banks of the Clarence River. It is right beside the Pacific Highway and is an excellent break point for those driving the Sydney-Brisbane highway. We have eaten there twice in the past week and were most impressed. We think it should be better known, especially as the service is especially friendly.
