The family restaurant, which is dated from 1974 on Naxos Island, was started from Nikos and Maria Margariti, who then decided to give a very new breath to Plaka beach, by producing tastes and smells based on the tradition. The continuity is coming from their son Michalis, who is continuing the route of the restaurant with the same philosophy.

Gorgeous location, terrible service

This restaurant is all about the gorgeous location, with tables and chairs right on the beach, perfectly positioned to watch the sunset. Unfortunately, they seemed very understaffed when we were there and the staff that they had were nice but useless. I ordered one of the special fishes of the day ( red scorpion fish) and it arrived a full 20-30 minutes after my husband had finished eating his main dish. The waitress seemed unaware of the issue. When she asked us how everything was I told her I was still waiting for my main course ( which was quite expensive, btw) and she was surprised. We ordered a bottle of water but they only brought our wine. I reminded them about water and they finally brought it, without glasses! The managers never came to our table to apologize or try to make things right. This was our anniversary dinner but it was not much fun for us to eat dinner on our own, 30 minutes apart. My advice would be to stick with the basic dishes, not the fresh fish of day.

Great location - you can either sit directly at the beach with your foot in the sand or you can sit in the taverna. The food has excellent value for money - very good and tasty, and the amounts are huge :-) The service is also very good. I especially enjoyed the Chicken Souvlaki and the fresh fish with grilled vegetables. Nikos & Maria restaurant is highly recommended!

I ate 3 mini burgers with a substantial helping of pita bread which was hot and delicious. The burgers were covered in a refreshingly tangy French relish which came with a side dish of tsaziki which complemented the burgers excellently. The pita bread accompanying it was BY FAR the best pita bread I have ever eaten. Other dishes eaten were, incredible spaghetti with a Bolognese like sauce that was also flawless. Child friendly(serving half portions). My child said it was incredibly delicious and said”we’re coming here again!” The food was very good value for money and all the grilled meats were cooked to perfection. Overall a great lunchtime experience by the beach.

Whenever I wanted to order anything I had to work to flag down the server and he actively looked away from me as to pretend not to see me. After eating apps, lunch, drinks, and coffee there they said NO I could not sit in their beach chairs even though it was late in the day. I gave it 2 stars because I did enjoy the fava bean dip and beet salad, but my partner and I definitely had stomach aches the next day and this was our only meal we ate that day.

Beach setting for sunset is truly wonderful. Food was of high quality with some modern takes on classic Greek food. Definitely worth going to and would go again. Only point to note is the service on the beach drops to being non existent once your food is served. We wanted to order dessert and coffee but despite efforts we were ignored. We walked up to the main restaurant to pay so we could leave. Nobody noticed or stopped us. They really need more order takers to manage or work in clear sections.

Amazing food, lovely friendly service and gorgeous location! Baked feta was to die for and the man got the freshest sea bass available, delicious. Service is very laid back, as anyone would expect on a Greek Island, not rushing or hassling you - as some of the other reviews stated... it isn't a fast food chain. Take tour time and enjoy the ambience.

We had a family dinner at Nikos and Maria, looking for some seafood and fresh fish. The staff was very friendly although the service has not been very quick (place was rather full). We had a selection of grilled octopus, fried calamari and grilled local fish. The food was overall below our expectations. The kids had pastas which were nice. We also got a bottle of wine which was definitely overpriced. I would suggest the place to families looking for some basic food but not to those looking for some well cooked seafood. They also have tables right on the beach that make the dinner a quite memorable and romantic experience.

Best restaurant in Plaka. Great setting on the beach backed up with fantastic food and friendly service. Along with many other restaurants in the area, the food is delivered when it's cooked, not necessarily when you want it, so we ordered starter(s) and then when we were ready ordered mains and they were fine with that, and you have a less hurried meal as a result. This restaurant was always busy. If you want a front-row table on the beach it's advised to book in advance.

Where to start and where to finish! Don't press it from the tick tok and generally from social media. Yes, okay, it has nice locations but nothing else! We got an octopus which was like eating rubber! The shrimp and shrimp came cold and let's go to the best we took fresh fish shrimp about 50-60€ the pound and for the first time in our lives we saw the following brought us a fish full of leppies yes well read leppies but not only was it crude and had understood what the person was unacceptable but there was no understanding between them. This Taverna has both an indoor restaurant and an area literally on the beach that they set up every evening. You really get to dine by the waves and watch the evening sun set behind you. In July, you will need to book a table if you want to be on the beach – the only place in Plaka where we couldn’t just show up on spec. The menu is traditional Greek. All the food we tried was excellent as was the house choice of wine. The staff were friendly and efficient. Bill in the middling price point for Plaka – but excellent value.

Excellent restaurant by the sea, we had lunch but in the evening it becomes even nicer because it sets the tables on the beach and the atmosphere becomes magical. Our dishes were all very plentiful and cared for. Real Greek cuisine. Fast service and honest prices. We took in 4 people: two dishes each for 3 people and my son pork skewers + water at will + great bread and Greek coffee all for 68 €. Super recommended!

We visited the Nikos & Maria restaurant on Naxos and were absolutely delighted! The value for money is incredibly good – you really pay fair prices for the quality of the food. Every dish we tasted was simply excellent and there really is nothing on the menu that you can't order without hesitation. Every bite hits the palate perfectly! The staff is very friendly and attentive, so you feel comfortable and in good hands at all times. Definitely not our last visit – we would love to come back! Clear Recommendation!

We have had lunch here twice and have always been satisfied. Very good and fresh fish, I had grilled sea bream both times and it was an excellent choice. My boyfriend ate the kleftiko which was really delicious, cooked inside a ceramic pot. Next time he ordered a pork steak and that was very good too.
