I was at Cafe Campestre for an early dinner in March 2020. I ordered an eggplant curry which was delicious, came with a bowl of rice and a small offering of pickles and garlic in a local sweet sauce. I also ordered a large glass...of fresh maracuja (passion fruit) juice - spectacular!! All for about $6-7 USD. My after dinner coffee was the best yet in Nicaragua and my chat with the two local waiters lasted well into the night. Lovely evening with some of the locals and a delicious curry.More

I wasn't really "wowed" by this place, however both curries we had were pretty good as well as the brownies. They were nice enough to make me a bagged lunch for my volcano hike the next morning and even separated everything so it wouldn't get...soggy. They have a few good vegetarian options to choose from and a nice secluded terrasse in the back which doesn't get any street noise. My beef is mostly with the younger waitress who doesn't smile and doesn't care. When our meals were finished she came to our table with two more plates and asked who ordered the curry, not noticing the empty plates in front of us...More

My husband and I both had curries and they were both amazing! The brownies were heaven and my husband got a yummy sandwich to go for his hike up one of the volcanoes the next day. Good service, great food.

I recently spent 2 weeks in Balgue and ate at Cafe Campestre nearly every night. The food was great! Great burger, great curries, great brownies! Ben, the owner, is a gem and all of the staff were great.

This was recommended to us by the Manager at Selvista. The Hummus sandwich was amazing, brownie was soooo good we wanted more but they were out when we went to get more.

We were recommended to try Cafe Campestre for its great tasting food so decided to go for our first meal on the island. Situated on the road side in Balgüe, the cafe itself was pretty basic in its set up. Sadly we were greeted by...a very unfriendly member of staff. The food was tasty and packed with flavour, however the service left a sour taste in our mouths. For our final night we decided to try one of their curries and opted for delivery. We called and a member of staff said it would take 30 minutes. An hour later I asked our host to follow up with the cafe and they said it would be an additional 10 minutes. 30 minutes after that, I called again and they said it would be 5 more minutes and then hung up. We gave up hope after 2.5 hours had passed! The food never came. A very disappointing experience especially given the service we’ve received across the country has been amazing!More
