Although we had reserved a table and they first tried to place us outside despite winter time, we had a fanstastic experience after waiting for an hour for another table. We chose the degustation menu which was a unique experience as every pizza was indescribsbly tasty. Especially the pizza scarpetta blew our minds. Also the waiters tried to provide us with best service possible.

Really nice restaurant with different spaces (panoramic terrace, garden and indoor spaces) we ate at the panoramic terrace and the ambience was very intimate and enjoyable. The restaurant has a very extensive pizza and fried pizza menu. They have the classic ones and the ones created by them. We tried 3 of the latter and we really enjoyed the Melanzana brusciata one and the fiore di zuccha, really really good! The only thing I didn’t love was that the tasting menu just offered fried desserts which it was a bit too much after 3 pizzas in two.

It's difficult to put to words just how good Pepe's pizza is. Not just his pizzamaking as a whole, but every single one of his creations is so far ahead of the best pizzas that I've tasted that it becomes an affair of trying to call the finest cut of Wagyu "steak". From his tiny fried pizza cones to pizza-like desserts, no matter how strange or away from the mold, you always feel a certainty that it's pizza that has been lovingly and very precisely tuned by a master's skill and experience. But it isn't just the food that is praiseworthy- touches like having house beers that have been especially made for the restaurant to have the aroma and flavor of pizza dough, and other tweaks in the drink menu to pair perfectly with the food that really set the restaurant apart from anywhere else. Service may be an afterthought mention, but it was also fantastic, fast, attentive and very accommodating(even goong out of their way to combine our reservations with those of another couple we befriended on the way to the restaurant, so we could sit together), setting a standard you will be hard pressed to find in the rest of Italy. In summery: If you enjoy pizza in any capacity and ever plan to make a trip to Italy, you *must* make this restaurant a destination in your journey.

Food is innovative and tasty but the lack of service totally spoils the experience. Staff is very arrogant, lacks empathy and is unbelievable rude. Drinks are not proper served Orders are forgotten Diet wishes (not too much cheese) totally ignored Pushed to order more because the desserts are small, as a client can I please decide for myself?? Bill served with desserts and the coffee Urged to leave because people are waiting: you have to manage that by giving a time slot in advance Communication very very disrespectful

This was my worst experience in Italy (or in my life) in a restaurant. The food was okay but nothing special. We booked the table at 22.15 and we wanted to order but they just ignored us. At 22.50 finally we could order and when the starter arrived the waiter just put the plate on the table without to say anything. After when we got the pizza the fork was full dirty. Never again!

we came all the way from France twice just for this very restaurant. Not only once but twice we have been so thrilled. First, the food : from the starters to the desert, everything is unique and creative. At every bites, you taste the technique and you feel that each and every ingredient is used at its best. The menu hightlights local products. Our experience goes beyond the degustation, what also makes this restaurant unforgettable is the staff and especially the Chef, Franco Pepe. It’s inspiring to see such a passionate person that cares about every clients that come to his restaurant. We just want to say grazie, we will come back for sure!

We came from Naples to Caserta via public transport and it was truly a long journey to the restaurant. However, we heard rave reviews from a fellow Singaporean who recently came to try their tasting menu. We had the same tasting menu with 7 courses and were absolutely stuffed by the end of it - we actually brought the dessert back to our hotel because it was too much 🤣 If you have a smaller appetite, I'd recommend the smaller tasting menu (I think it's 5 courses). Each course was different and the staff took care to explain what ingredients they used to create it. We had 0 difficulty understanding because their English was great. They made every guest feel welcome and at home :) Because we didn't travel by car, we had to find a way to get back to Naples after 3 hours of eating (yes we took very long). We emailed Pepe in Grani for alternatives and they shared a contact of a close friend with us. His name is Mr Lo Stritto - he's a really jolly guy and was super sweet to bring us back to Caserta train station to catch our train back. Overall, I'd recommend you to come try if you are in town or Naples because their pizza is definitely unique. Caserta is also a really peaceful small town; we absolutely loved it. Remember to bring warm clothes because it's colder than Naples since it's on a hill. Would recommend flat shoes instead of heels too.

We have read some reviews here mentioning that the service was bad, so we arrived with zero expectations towards the service, so we would not get disappointed. eventually, it was the BEST service we ever received in Italy, and we live here for a few years. IT IS INSANE that Pepe in Grani is ranked only in the fifth place of "best pizzeria in Italy". this is BY FAR the best experience we've ever received, the best pizza we ever ate, the most detailed thinking hosting experience. Thank you, Franco Pepe. you're a legend.

Rarely, does a place with high expectations, exceed those expectations! Such was the case with our visit to Pepe in Grani… a very memorable part of our trip through Italy. Our family of four, each with our own opinions as to what makes a good pizza, all agreed that we were served some of the best pizza we’ve ever had. The presentation, dough texture, and ingredient freshness were outstanding! We sat in the tasting room and enjoyed several slices of a variety of amazing pizzas including pizza desserts. The creativity and adherence to quality by Franco and his team is admirable. The so called “icing on the cake” for us that evening was a surprise visit by Franco Pepe to our table. We did not expect that and it was great to see him making the rounds and greeting his guests. Even having reservations, you must wait outside for several minutes; the hostess at the door does a good job in controlling the dozens of people waiting in the narrow alley leading to the restaurant entrance. By the way, Caiazzo is a delightful, small town worth exploring.

Let me start by saying the pizza was the best. The dough is so spongy and fresh, even after it sits for some time it still springs back. The tasting was great although I wish we tried the mortadella fried pizza. They were all delicious and I wish my stomach was bigger. The only downside was I booked exactly two months before we arrived and when I was able to and requested a different area but on the night was told I would have to wait. There is no advantage to booking so far in advance if you are not rewarded. It was my dream to come and I’m glad I did, but the restaurant should take note of this and either clarify it in the booking process or advise that requests cannot be honoured.

About this pizzeria there many things to say, but let's start with the welcoming. Reservation at 11 p.m., but we got in only after 1 hour!!! And in the while the door man was not even so welcoming, i can say rude with the many clients outside. The pizza was good, no mistakes, but when you think about the best pizza in the world you expect something with a plus, but you can have the same pizza in any place in naples, without waiting 1 hour of line with resrvation!!! As the title, AN AVERAGE PIZZA!

Pure excellence. Not just because the quality and taste of these pizzas were unmached but the staff’s hospitality and professionality were off the chain too. We had our table just in time. We chose the tasting menu which really covers a good selection of Franco’s playful ideas of pizzas. Asked the waiter for a wine pairing and he nailed my preferences indeed. We also seen Mr. Pepe twice as he greeted us at our table and asked if our dinner was going well. He is a humble and very polite person. When we left I thanked him for the evening and he kindly returned the favour with a signed flyer as we shared a few kind words and handshake. We felt truly appreciated. It was the best evening I have ever had in a restaurant. Thank you to Mr Pepe and the whole team. Bravo!

Finally made it! One reason or another for many years couldn’t go to taste the famed pizza of Franco Pepe… Lets start from the pizza: it is a very good pizza and passed the night test with no problem :-) I sleep like a baby. But the real highlight of the menu are the cakes. They are heavenly ! The restaurant has a country chic feeling beautifully decorated and it is in a narrow street of Caiazzo which adds to the charm. Prices are surprising low for the fame of the restaurant. The negative for the client is that Pepe in Grani is a victim of his own success. Long queue outside, security at the entrance, personal professional, but rushed…I had a feeling of being kicked out once asked for the bill. Must say the staff is attentive and Franco Pepe is present and going around greeting the clients. Happy to have finally tried Pepe in Grani, don’t know if I will go back….lets say is off my bucket list…

We probably came to Italy because of the Chefs Table episode on Netflix about this place and it’s creator, Franco Pepe. It was an amazing trip from Rome to Florence and then on to Caiazzo for 2 days eating pizza and experiencing a medieval village off the tourist path. THERE ARE NO WORDS for how delicious, creative, unexpected and delightful is this restaurant. Certainly the best pizza one will ever eat, but very likely the best meal. Period. The world class experience starts with the crowd of people in the cobblestone alley outside the restaurant anxiously awaiting their name to be called, then are the staff so happy to greet you (apparently aware of how excited you should be) and clearly understanding they are part of something very very special. Then there are the crew of artists in the kitchen (whom you watch preparing your pizza livestream projected on to the dining room wall… what?? Yes!). This review may seem over the top and I agree it is. I know I will never write another like it.

Do not order single pizza, especially ordinary one, but ask for a gourmet taste of specials. You get many smaller pizza, salty, sweet, with honey, marmelade, vegetables you never heard, and even if you do not like it...it is just a slice and new more fantastic experience is on the way. :-)
