Because of the nice location, I decided to eat at Al Bagolo during my last day in Venice. It was incredibly disappointing. I chose the truffle ravioli. Which turned out to be supermarket ricotta and spinach ravioli in a watery mushroomy sauce. The ravioli was...More

Food is fine but service terrible. Waiter came over and asked what I wanted with pen poised then as I spoke he started talking to someone else so didn’t hear my order. Table not set properly although not busy. Service poor - waiter asked two...More

We ate here during our stay in Venice. Friendly staff, and excellent food. The square can be noisy in the early evening as it is a gathering place for the local people but gets quieter later (or you can sit inside). Good food, plenty of...More

We enjoyed a lunch al fresco of very tasty pasta and a glass of house wine (3 euros), clearly used by local people and visitors too.

We stopped here for pizza and Aperol Spritz. The drinks were good and the pizza was good enough but not the best we had in Venice. There was a cover charge of 3 Euros even though the place was mostly empty.

Booked in the afternoon as it was a Saturday and wasn’t sure how full restaurants get on our first visit to Venice. When we arrived there was only one other couple in who left shortly after us so not much atmosphere. Strangely the background music...More

Fabulous spot for some afternoon sun with good pizza and efficient service. Really nice in the square to watch the world go by. Food is good and excellent value.

Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district)
when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring
cars and buses close to the center of Venice.
Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking
Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes
with energy from travelers and students. Historic
palaces and former industrial buildings house some
departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture
