For great seafood at a street-side table this city small restaurant fills the bill. We had local caught hake, each a bit different. The hake civeche had just enough heat to hold my attention and the breaded hake with a cheese and parsley sauce and a side of mash was a tasty surprise. The chips were crispy as expected. The servers offered to mix and match any combination on the menu.

I tried two dishes at SeaBreeze: Sesame Prawn Toast and Cape Malay Seafood Curry. The two dishes were both Asia-inspired and tasted very good.
I eat a lot of Malay food back home in Singapore and I was pleasantly surprised by the Cape Malay curry. It was more like Indian instead of Malay food. The seafood was fresh and the rice was properly done. The chapati was more like deep fried which was a bit ununsual for me, but boy it was delicious.
The service was friendly.
Do note that the winter special menu may not be a good deal for the cheaper dishes.

The food was delicious and the service was great! We had the smoked trout fish cake and aubergine chips as appetizers and they were amazing! I had the tuna nicoise and my husband had the surf(prawns) and turf(ostrich), both delicious. The waitstaff kept checking on our needs, even if he/she wasn’t the original server. This was a great restaurant. I highly recommend it.

We had been told that SeaBreeze did half price oysters between 5 and 6pm. Our waitress did not tell us about the special, and luckily we knew about it! The normal price for oysters was R42, which is waaaay over the top anyway, so they could afford to sell at half price!
I ordered a "Caesar Salad" which was definitely not even close to a Caesar Salad. No Romaine lettuce, just normal lettuce, No dressing at all (I had to ask for some) 4 anchovies (yes, I counted) and a10 tiny croutons. At R150, it was a total ripoff!
The fish and chips were also over priced.
All in all, most disappointing

The winter menu is 390 ZAR or $22.....For this you get a choice of starters, I went for mussels (great) the rest of the table went for the smoked trout fishcake (amazing!!). For the main I went for Hake 9.5/10 - boy 1 fish pie...10/10 buy 2 Ostrich steak 9/10 - Wife fish Curry - Solid 10. If you want get away from overpriced average food at V&A - Check it out...

We ate at SeaBreeze for our first dinner in Cape Town and it was a perfect place to start our trip. The food was simple and well prepared and the fish was very fresh. The young wait staff, all lovely and enthusiastic, could not have been more eager to help and service was timely and charming. Highly recommend for a casual delicious dinner.

After we had dinner once in 2020 we thought to go back. Sitting next to 2 ladies when we arrive already complaining about there prawn dish I had my doubt..
I said to my friend after the chef came to explain: “may I never be so full of nonsense…
When our full and half portion of muscles arrived I felt helpless….. both dishes smelled like rotton meat or even worse. First we taste (after my remark) and then I said to my friend, no ways I am not going to eat this.
I felt so bad and before I could complain the Manager come and I ask him to smell. His first reaction was it defn smells not good.
After the chef came and said that there is defn nothing wrong with the dish I ask her if she would taste, she didn’t…
We actually apologise, God knows why?!
After we have send it back and wanted to leave they gabe us a 50% discount on the dish(that was by the way almost not touched)….
Sorry but I still feel that someone has stole from me.
Seriously something wrong if the chef comes out twice on 1 night with a complains of 2 tables(co-incidence next to each other)…….

We decided to pop in for some seafood on a Wednesday evening. I would recommend phoning in and booking as we had to sit at the oyster bar as they were full.
They've got a good drinks menu and have fresh fish on the menu that changes. We had oysters for starters which were really good. We asked the waitress whether the dressed oysters were knysna or saldahna oysters (two options available) and were told knysna however upon receiving them they were not knysna but were good nonetheless.
We then ordered the Tuna which was the game fish, really well cooked, nicely seared and the whole dish was very fresh. We also ordered the Kingclip which was the white fish of the night, also really well cooked served with a nice Atchar Veloute. My wife ordered the Tuna slider starters for her mains and although simple, were really good and fresh!
We were stuffed after our starters and mains so unfortunately didn't get a chance to have dessert but the apple crumble cheesecake looked really good.
Only downsides was that by the time our drinks had arrived we had already gotten our starters so just took quite awhile and service was a bit slow.
Once a table opened up they also moved us over to have our mains.
Really enjoyable night with great food and drinks, would definitely be back.

Amazing food and incredible service made this a most rewarding evening out. The aubergine chips deserve to have a poem written about them! These Eggplant slices breaded in panko crumbs were fried to perfection and are not to be missed. The serving of Saldanha Bay mussels was generous and served with a delicate, delicious white wine sauce. The Smoked Trout Fishcake with hollandaise and a poached egg made me slow down and take tiny bites so i could make the experience last as long as possible. The prices are reasonable and the ambiance relaxing.

I was so looking forward to returning to Seabreeze after an absence with a friend from Italy. The food was outstanding particularly the seafood ink pasta.
However I left completely disappointed. It was a Thursday evening and the restaurant was not particularly busy. Our reservation was 19h15. At 21h00 whist we were still eating the staff started packing up the restaurant - candles off the tables some lights were switched off. I asked the waitress what time she closed and she said 23h00. I explained to her I felt they were pushing us to leave. There were still 3 tables in the restaurant. At 21h40 they started putting the bars on the windows so we asked for the bill and left.
Such a pity. Next time I will choose a restaurant who values their patrons.

A little research online led us to this gem for dinner. We were guided through the menu options by our server and we laughed over the pronunciation of arancini - in which the server sided with my wife’s version. The menu included some classic dishes and then a section of fresh catches. I opted for the whole fish and my wife had a filet of Hake. Amazing! When the sommelier joined us to discuss our second glass of wine - we both made a new choice based upon his friendly and patient tastings of three different wines. Pinotage and its unique role in South African wine was the favorite. His time with us allowed us to savor our choice.

Absolutely delicious!!! We were lucky enough to visit for dinner over Christmas and the seafood selection was top notch, but also very fairly priced. The service was also brilliant and they also had a great selection of wines. Thoroughly recommend a visit!

I first came here 4 years ago when it was quiet but good. This time the restaurant was buzzing when we walked in but also cosy. My starter was the hake ceviche. I cannot explain how exquisite this dish was, the hake was so so soft, almost indetectable that it had not been cooked, but the lime had done its job, subtly. Ink mayonnaise was a light touch that complimented perfectly. Battered fish and chips for main. Fish on the small side but tasted fresh and yum. I particularly enjoyed the offer to taste wines to help us make a choice. We were offered a few tastings which added to the delight of the restaurant. Service was excellent. Really enjoyed my evening and will definitely be back when in CT.

This was our 3rd or 4th time to Seabreeze Fish and Shell, being from overseas we don't get to do this often, always a highlight and a must visit when we visit Cape Town.
Each time its been exceptional, they are involved with a responsible group of seafood that works with fishermen/women to provide top seafood while maintaining nature.
Very knowledgeable staff and if they don't know something they get a manager who will come to your table, if you have large group they have an elegant dining room with a super cool chandelier made from sea shells.
Its in a great location with ample parking.
As I type from 20,000 miles away my mouth is watering reliving our last dining experience
Many thanks for running such a good restaurant. Super wines and all of this at reasonable prices.
