We were staying at Silverdale Farm House (B&B) and our host recommended this wee pub for a meal. So glad we went even although we had not booked a table they very kindly fitted us in & gave us a table for 2 in the bar. The atmosphere, service & food were all 1st class and we were so happy... More

I was very impressed with the food here. It is a little unassuming but well worth a stop. Gorgeous gardens with a beautiful view while you enjoy lovely food. The menu is very extensive and diverse.. Loads to choose from but I chose the garlic King prawns for starter and smoked salmon for main. Both were beautifully presented, good portions... More

Our family spent a week or so in Alwinton in July this year and drove past this restaurant several times on our excursions around the area. Ignoring the not too imposing frontage, the 7 of us turned up without a booking on a night they were busy and clearly understaffed. However, it was obvious they were determined to make us... More

I called in to the Three Wheat Heads in the hope of having Sunday lunch with my family, my little boy who is nearly 2 was asleep so I went in first to find out if they had any tables available. I explained that I didn't want to wake my son if there were no tables so thought I'd best... More

Very extensive menu and specials as well. We arrived not having booked at 5.45 on a Saturday. They managed to fit us in although it was a busy evening. Very friendly staff with just the right approach from "boss lady" to young waitress. Only downsides were the portions - even of the small variety - were rather too large

A comfortable and welcoming pub serving generous portions of home-cooked food. A real gammon steak (not the flat cut sort) with fresh pineapple (not rings from a tin). Rich and flavoursome soup plus a good vegetarian selection. The views from the restaurant into the garden and the hills beyond, are breathtaking. We came for dinner but if the weather permits,... Had lunch in the bar area because we have a small dog which is not allowed in the restaurant (naturally - hence missing out on the spectacular view ) & the oldies we had with us don't like to eat outside (shame - as the garden is wonderful) . Although the bar lacks abit of atmosphere when empty it is... More
