Visited while out for a walk in Rothbury. Short drive away in the next village but easy to find. Had lunch in the restaurant which was busy on a Saturday afternoon so it did take longer than normal to be served food, although not a problem as in no rush. We were seated by the window which made the visit... More

We stayed for two night, visiting relatives in Northumberland. We stayed in a family room with our dog. Considering the rooms are above a popular restaurant/pub, we had no noise or disturbances at all. The room was very comfortable, and we enjoyed drinks with the family in the garden as well as a lovely breakfast both mornings. Although this is... More

Revisited after an unavoidable delay and found the 5 star rating i gave previously still exists..A warm greeting from Kevin was a good start for an excellent meal and was well worth the price. The restaurant is immaculate and the view of the Simonside hills is spectacular. Dont miss it

While visiting the area, a local recommended this restaurant for an evening meal. He also recommended we book before turning up however on a Friday night in February at a restaurant in a small hamlet, I wasn't expecting it to be busy. As it turn out, we were very lucky to get a table even quite early in the evening.... More

We call in here a couple of times a year. Family run with great food. Try the prawn salad. Staff very pleasant, without being intrusive. Prices are good. As long as the food and service remains the same we will be back.

Wnet with a large group of family and friends just before Christmas. The place was very busy with Christmas patrons and Sunday lunch customers. We had 3 course Christmas lunch which had everything including vegetarian. Serve was great and staff friendly even though it was very busy. Would go again.

On holiday first week in January so was very quiet. It was a little bit like stepping back in time, however the food was delicious, the staff were very friendly and the menu was very varied. My wife had the homemade fish pie which was bursting with....erm...fish! And I had the steak, ale and mushroom pie which just melted in... More

We were staying in rothbury with family who suggested the wheatheads for food. It was busy so should have booked but they managed to accommodate 8 of us. I had liver and bacon which was excellent was glad I didn't have a starter as the portion size was generous. Staff were lovely would certainly go back if we were there... More

The Three Wheat Heads is a highly popular choice for locals who want a smashing Sunday lunch. Best to book ahead to ensure a table. Excellent choice of roasts and vegetables are cooked to order and served at your table. Friendly and efficient staff who make sure that things run smoothly.
