Visiting local attractions and turned to TripAdvisor looking for food! Not disappointed by this pub at all. We has a warm welcome from the barmaid and were attended to by a lovely lady (I think the sister of the owner), she was warm, welcoming and quite the nice kind of cheeky!! Food was delicious, just what was needed for a... More

The atmosphere is more tea room than the pub I'd expected. Table service from a pleasant young woman. I chose one of the day's soups-spicy beef and bean, which was delicious and served with a warm baguette. I also chose a side of onion rings with garlic mayo! Really special, and easily enough to share. I'd definitely recommend this place.... More

We took the best rated pub closest to Monkey World. Unfortunately, I don't see how this pub has such a high rating. OK, the positives, a friendly staff that gave us a private corner. The negative, the food. The chicken schnitzel was burnt on both sides and bone dry, the pork schnitzel was burnt, but luckily still moist and the... More

Found this little village pub by accident after finding we had an hours wait until the next train after visiting monkey world. I can literally sum it up as one of my most favourite eating experiences. The food was all genuinely homemade, the best roast dinner we've ever had. The service was efficient, the girls working there were polite and... More

Excellent well cooked food. Good portions. Restaurant was full but food arrived in good time. Staff very friendly and efficient. Locals very friendly. Excellent local atmosphere, very welcoming to visitors. It felt like going in to our local pub at home. Excellent, highly recommended. One tip, book a table in the restaurant side. The bar side looked a bit too... More

I decided to try this on a Tuesday night for dinner, I'm working away from home so was on my own. Was a little put-off on entry by the sudden silence! But I sat in the restaurant and ordered the salmon fillet in butter and capers. It was well cooked and came with plenty of veg and a large portion... More
