Been several times, usually as a couple but sometimes with others for dinner. Pretty standard menu but there are 'special' evenings. Pub has a good following and the licensee knows his regulars. Have been on other evenings when he is not there and the service doesn't seem the same. Large beer garden and a kids play area, both well maintained.... More

Great menu and big screen sports all wrapped up in an intimate cosy atmosphere for family, quiet dinner or to catch some football with friends on SKY.

I am a local Kentish man and I love my food and dining out. I have been to The Red Lion in the past and have always been satisfied with both the food and service. Until now. My roast beef was so tough and chewy that 10minutes of masticating a forks-full wasn't enough to be physically able to swallow. Awful,... More

The staff are lovely and we were welcomed in to celebrate a friend's wedding - started with coffees and then quickly on to some bubbly - the lunch was tasty and good value - we spent some while in the pub and the place full full of friendly customers and a lot seemed to be regulars - :) thank you... This is a great pub, independently run by a very friendly landlord & landlady and their well appointed staff. It was my second visit here and lunch was as good the second time. 2 courses for £10 a bargain. Whitebait to start, cooked well it was crispy and of a good size so you could taste the fish. To follow... More

Sunday Roast at the Red Lion was pleasant enough. The staff were lovely, the service was speedy, the food was below average. The roast beef was so tough and chewy I couldn't eat it, the veg were nice enough. The gravy was quite salty. It was a nice lunch out, but only because the staff were nice and the location... More

I have to write this to advise everyone out there in Tripadvisor land, that if you are in the Canterbury area, or even in the Kent area and are looking for a good pub with amazing food. Then this place is worth spending your petrol on to get there. Thursday evenings, is Steak night. The Fillet is one of the... More

I came here on a lunch break with a friend for a quick bite to eat. The food was served quickly and was to a good standard. However the service let the experience down. The waitress was friendly but lacked knowledge of the menu, when asked what baguettes they served she seemed put off and had to find a menu.... More

Had a very tasty lunch 2 courses for £10 Worth asking what the vegetarian dish is as we had a lovely goats cheese with peppers and rice main followed by a delicious sticky toffee pudding. Came in here by chance after a wedding at the local church and can thoroughly recommend.

Description
Located in the village of Bridge, just outside Canterbury, The Red Lion is a traditional British pub with a splash of French restaurant flair. Eye-catching from the outside, The Red Lion boasts a uniquely old fashioned exterior brought up-to-date with a lick of light coloured paint, while inside is comfortable and cosy, a traditional space with olde worlde charm in its rough beams and pillars the ideal village pub. But while the dcor might be traditional, The Red Lions menu is less so. With the influence of host Rene Renault (from Rennes no less), the kitchen has added French sophistication to locally sourced ingredients - including eggs from the owners own hens in modern creative dishes.
