Sunday Roast at the Red Lion was pleasant enough. The staff were lovely, the service was speedy, the food was below average. The roast beef was so tough and chewy I couldn't eat it, the veg were nice enough. The gravy was quite salty. It was a nice lunch out, but only because the staff were nice and the location... More

I have to write this to advise everyone out there in Tripadvisor land, that if you are in the Canterbury area, or even in the Kent area and are looking for a good pub with amazing food. Then this place is worth spending your petrol on to get there. Thursday evenings, is Steak night. The Fillet is one of the... More

I came here on a lunch break with a friend for a quick bite to eat. The food was served quickly and was to a good standard. However the service let the experience down. The waitress was friendly but lacked knowledge of the menu, when asked what baguettes they served she seemed put off and had to find a menu.... More

Had a very tasty lunch 2 courses for £10 Worth asking what the vegetarian dish is as we had a lovely goats cheese with peppers and rice main followed by a delicious sticky toffee pudding. Came in here by chance after a wedding at the local church and can thoroughly recommend.

Very warm welcome from owner Rene and bar staff Elsa. Beautiful meal and entertained with a bar game. We are on holiday and were more than impressed with the friendliness of the locals.

We sat in the restaurant area this time and were very comfortable. We went for the two courses for £10 . The food was... More

Called into The Red Lion Inn today Tue 3rd May. My friend and I had been riding, so were were not very smart. The Bar Tender welcomed us as we arrived and came to our table to serve us explaining the choice of menu for the evening. We chose the 2 course meal for a set price and ordered a... More

Good service and atmosphere. We went on Fish Friday as advertised outside the pub and on their website. We were very disappointed that it has been discontinued although it is still being advertised which had encouraged us to eat there. The meal we had was good but not what we had hoped for.

I visited this pub on the weekend. I can honestly say this is the best roast dinner i have ever come across. The chef needs a award of some description. I recommend the Lamb or pork to anyone that visits this place. The staff are friendly and polite. the pub has the football live and plenty room to sit and... More

Description
Located in the village of Bridge, just outside Canterbury, The Red Lion is a traditional British pub with a splash of French restaurant flair. Eye-catching from the outside, The Red Lion boasts a uniquely old fashioned exterior brought up-to-date with a lick of light coloured paint, while inside is comfortable and cosy, a traditional space with olde worlde charm in its rough beams and pillars the ideal village pub. But while the dcor might be traditional, The Red Lions menu is less so. With the influence of host Rene Renault (from Rennes no less), the kitchen has added French sophistication to locally sourced ingredients - including eggs from the owners own hens in modern creative dishes.
