Stayed in hotel. Ate in pub bar near a nice warm fire although there is an adjacent restaurant. Reasonable selection of mains ranging from pies and fish. I had standard cod and large chips which I imagine came from a freezer. There were some speciials such as chicken Wellington. Bread an olives for... read more

We've often wondered why someone doesn't run a pub that offers good, well presented, home cooked food, with a traditional menu, and ample portions at reasonable prices. Why does every pub seems to want to make their menus over complex and strive to get a Michelin star, or have their chef (sorry Executive Chef) on television cooker programmes ? Really... More

My wife and I visited for a meal with our 1 year old. The food was delicious, the homemade pie was exceptional. Our waitress was very helpful and we were made to feel very welcome (not always the case with a baby!) love the dog wall of fame too!

We visited on Jan 31 for a roast dinner, with two 8 year olds and two one year olds. Food was fabulous, highly recommend the roast beef, vegetables were delicious especially the cauliflower cheese. Kids meals generous although dessert not included in the price. Adults meals good size and good value. Staff are great, really friendly and kind and super... More

We stayed here for two nights and were very impressed by the quality and presentation of the food. We were spoilt for choice and we would like to have stayed more nights to have sampled a greater range of the menu. The staff were very friendly.

Having booked this online without reading reviews we found this little Pub with accomodation most relaxing. It is an extremely old pub with all the creeks and groans of an old building. This did not detract in any sense from the standard of the rooms and service we got. We ate in the restaurant part one evening and the food... More

As locals we often pop in and love the ultra-friendly and helpful staff and the fact that the bar side is dog friendly (we have a Labrador and a Rottweiler puppy and they couldn't be more welcoming for dogs). Food selection great, nice pub food, good ales. Surprised at some of the reviews although we have had one unhelpful waitress... More

What a lovely surprise . We stayed here for one night. We were visiting a friends birthday bash at the near by pub called the George . We didn't expect a lot to be honest, but, what a little gem of a place the woolpack turned out to be. This really is an old inn dating back to Richard III.... More
