Great food and lovely pub

Went for dinner at the pub and were spoilt for choice with options on the main, specials and dessert menus, all of which were reasonable priced. The pub had atmosphere with a mixture of diners and drinkers. The decor was lovely and the real fire was cosy. The young female bar tender/ waitress was... read more

I had checked out the website before we arrived and was disappointed to find that only a Sunday menu was actually on offer. This consisted of no starters and was focused on a range of roasts with a few extra options, but as we appeared to be the only patrons at the time, I can understand why. However, it was... More

Booked six months ago specifically for Xmas dinner on Christmas Eve. No mention was made at that time about pre-ordering courses. Turned up tonight to be told that as they were unable to reach me by telephone to pre-order our choices we would have to eat from their regular or specials menu. Due to illness I had telephoned last week... More

Party of 16 of us had Christmas dinner at the Duke of Cumberland. The food was excellent, and a big thank you to head chef Vic for the presentation, and quality of all 3 courses. The pub real ales are very good, and all the staff are very friendly.

We wanted a quick lunch before attending a funeral at the local crematorium. We tried to go to The Jackdaw (just round the corner) but they were full to bursting, they suggested the duke of Cumberland (a sister pub), and phoned ahead for us to check they had room and to expect us (which was very nice of them). There... More

Unfortunately the meal took an hour to come out. The fish was very dry and was supposed to be bass but tasted like plaice. My plate had loads of chips which was great, me mate only had a handful though and when we asked if he could have a few more we was told point blank there weren't any more.... More

My wife and I joined friends for a evening out at the Duke of Cumberland Pub, Barham, Canterbury. We orders appetizers along with the main course. After eating a large serving of vegetables for an appetizer, my main course - meat pie ALSO included vegetables. The waitress was remiss in not informing me of this duplication. The food was average... More

We went here for lunch and the food was lovely. Massive portions and a good price. The staff were friendly and welcoming too. We have been here lots in the last couple of year for events, or celebrations and have never been disappointed. Great garden for the kids on a sunny day.

We booked in around midday for a Sunday roast here and got a table without too much trouble although seated in the bar area which was fine. We were seated very quickly and the owner, I believe I recongnised her from the sister pub 'The Jackdaw', was quick to take our order. The food arrived before we had finished our... More
