We eat here regularly and always have a good meal - food is consistent, the surroundings very nice (great beer garden for kids) and lots of real ales to choose from

Pub seemed OK but the pre arranged snack food not so good. Could have been much better. Got the impression they did it on the cheap

Beautiful old pub and accommodation. Rooms are fresh, clean and inviting with ensuites. We were warmly welcomed and had a great night. We would have liked to stay longer. Breakfast was the best of our trip and the Cumberland sausages were absolutely delicious.

Had a fantastic meal here last night with our best friends. Booked a table in advance, glad we did because it was packed. Good, attentive service and the food excellent. Two of us had Hunters Chicken, one the paella and the other the Lamb Tagine . A lovely, welcoming place that we all said we would return to. We couldn't... More

I go to this pub from time to time (just a bit far away from home otherwise I would go there more often) and I've never been disappointed. The food is just right, with a broad variaty of dishes (not just the odd tastaless side veg - insipid carrots and cawliflower that are sometimes the only choice in other pubs...).... More

It's not very often I say "that was as good as home cooked" but that's exactly how I felt about the Sunday lunch served to me by the lovely, polite, friendly and smiling manager/waitress. Thank you for serving good food at a good price and with a smile. I'll be back!!!

I visited this homely pub on a Wednesday lunchtime and my lovely lunch cost just 8-95! At this price I expected small portions or at least some corner cutting but this far from the case; the lamb and meat pie was delicious with plenty of meat and the pastry was hot water crust, quite an art! It was served with... More

As it was a sunny day and had the children, we were looking for somewhere nice for lunch that had a play area in the garden, so googled 'play area pubs near Canterbury'. The Duke of Cumberland came up and as not too far from us in Eastry we thought we'd give it a try. So pleased we did!! What... More

Staying at a resort nearby, and wanting a walk with a pub half way for lunch. Had no idea what it would be like but turned up to find a building dating from 1749, friendly staff, a great menu. Had intended to have a bowl of soup; but the 2 course set menu for lunch sounded great value - and... More

On our way out to and return from France we stayed at the Duke of Cumberland. Location is excellent and the pub is a classic - clean, nicely presented and not modern - perfect. Staff were all excellent, helpful and friendly. Rooms nicely done - not "posh" - but honest, roomy. comfortable and clean.Only down side - sometimes - was... More
