Having visited the Holmsley Old Station Tea Rooms a few years ago, we didn’t know quite what to expect post-Covid. Could it still be running even, or closed - but not by Dr Beeching this time? To our delight it certainly is open and is really thriving in fact! We called in for morning coffee with tea cakes and one of the many delicious shortbreads and were delighted: the service was brilliant (by all the attentive, friendly, staff) and the cost was very reasonable. We wanted to find out a bit more about the Castleman Corkscrew railway line which passed right alongside Holmsley Station until it was closed by Dr B in 1964. One of the helpful staff showed us a map of the line and, as we left, we explored what is left of the station platform (see photo). A lovely morning out - and quite near Burley, a favourite village in the New Forest.

Lovely breakfast Saturday morning after a beautiful walk along the old railway tracks Vegan breakfast was well presented and very tasty. The staff were welcoming and had really made an effort to dress in style. A lovely spot to stop at with plenty of inside and outside space.

Had sandwich lunch. While sandwiches were good they were served entirely plain with no salad garnish or crisps etc. Therefore the presentation was extremely poor. This is the one and only time we have ever been served sandwiches without garnish in any eatery. When pointed out to staff they mentioned it was due to increased price of veg etc. Other places we have eaten in seem to manage it so we think you could do a lot better and leave customers with a much better impression.

We often visit this delightful tea rooms, set on the edge of the New Forest on what was a station and with both inside and outside tables. The food is delicious and the staff always so helpful. I wanted to give them a special shout out for being very accommodating to a party of us yesterday, but particularly on behalf of our grandson who wanted to award the hot chocolate seven stars! Staff are always so friendly. A great stop off whether you are exploring the area (bike racks supplied as well as parking) or live in the area.

After reading recent reviews, I was apprehensive about our visit. It's not how I remember it some years back, it seemed a lot more fancy back then. We sat in the garden as we had the dog with us. I had a cream tea with a coffee and Mum had Dorset apple cake with a cup of tea. We weren't served, we had to go to the outdoor counter whilst they prepared the tray. The coffee was good but in a tiny cup and the cream tea was just a basic takeaway cream tea with the usual packaged clotted cream and jam. To be honest, I expected a bit more for my money and because this place used to be a bit special but is now just average. Such a shame but this seems to be the way of late.

Popped in for a late breakfast. Fun theme to the tea house and you can get food outside to take away or enjoy as well as eating in. I had the full English which was well cooked and presented. Good service and it was nice to see the younger staff being guided and trained on what needed to be done. This input was paying off. The cakes also looked great as you enter.

We visited for a roast dinner after a delightful local walk and had a splendid experience. The meat (I had the pork, partner had beef) was of exceptional quality and cooked to perfection. The staff were remarkably friendly and attentive, even on what appeared to be a very busy Sunday. Would recommend, will be back.

The station tearooms were fantastic from start to finish, booking my mums 70th afternoon tea with them two months beforehand. We were a table of 25 with 23 of us eating. We were provided with full menus to order from beforehand which catered for us all with vegan and gluten free options. We were greeted really warmly when we arrived and although the tea rooms were already busy we were served promptly, all our food came out as ordered and everyone was very happy. The roasts were delicious, I had the nut roast pictured. The afternoon teas and cream teas were also very popular and the whole party happy with what they ordered. Very friendly service from Catharine and the team and I would certainly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy a great new forest location with good food and a quirky themed station tearoom. We will definitely be back!

We had a lovely full English breakfast at 10.30am one Monday, a very warm welcome from staff, choice of sitting inside or out. We like the ambiance inside with the 1930s music gently playing. The breakfast was cooked fresh, with choice of egg style, and a nice selection with the option of adding hash browns and/or black pudding that day. A great start to the day and situated in a lovely area for walking/cycling.

A group of 13 of us celebrated a special birthday on Sunday lunchtime. We were made to feel very welcome, our food was excellent and it wasn’t until we had finished our meals that we discovered that the restaurant was short of staff, which was unavoidable. All of the staff did fantastically well to continue with the lunch for us, as well as being very busy overall in the rest of the restaurant. We would highly recommended the tea rooms and thank you again for making mum’s birthday lunch so enjoyable.

We have visited this tea room for many many years and it has always delivered with regard to service, surroundings and food! The scones are amazing snd always our first choice, until now! The ‘special’ was a fish finger sandwich. Possibly the best fish finger sandwich I’ve ever tasted, mainly as a result of the accompanying tartare sauce. Don’t be swayed by all the delicious cakes and pastries - the savoury dishes are equally impressive. As always, great and friendly service!

We came upon these lovely tea rooms by accident but are so pleased we did find it as it was a gem. It’s in a lovely quiet setting just off the A35 by Burley and has been well looked after and brought up to date in a sympathetic way so it still looks like a station. We were greeted by Claire who looked after us very well and all the staff were friendly. They have a small gift shop as you walk in with a cafe and plenty of tables in the next room. They had meringues in the cafe with the topping looking like the points on a crown they were so tall and lots of other delicious looking homemade muffins and cakes etc. The menu is varied with something to suit most people and drinks include wine as well as a good range of soft drinks and tea/coffee all at reasonable prices. I had a jacket potato full of cottage cheese, topped with 2 large slices of smoked salmon and a small side salad. I’d never seen that anywhere else. My husband had a bacon and egg sandwich on granary bread which was delicious. The chips looked lovely but we didn’t have any. It’s well worth a visit if you’re passing.

We booked as a dog friendly meal however when we arrived were firmly told their policy was they did not allow dogs in doors . They were only dog friendly if we chose to eat out in the cold. We did not. We went to Burly. We had a choice of dog friendly pub nice and cosy and tea rooms dog friendly and cafe dog friendly. Meaning they all welcomed us and our well behaved puppy.
