This beach front open air restaurant is on the northern side of Santa Teresa towards Playa Manzanillo. It's far out of town, but worth the trip for the amazing location and beautiful beach. It seems like a local haunt, though we were joined by tourists as well. The beer was cold and the guacamole was tasty. We both had the casados- one with fish and one with chicken. Both excellent. This is how vacation should be- fresh local food on the beach :)

Drove here from Santa Teresa, which was an adventure in itself. The options were limited in this part of the country, but we were recommended to come here by two at Koji's (which doesn't offer lunch). And we weren't disappointed. If you like typical Latin almuerzo, you'll no doubt be pleased you stopped by. The view is nice and the staff friendly. And then embrace your intrepid side and take your 4x4 on the beach and drive for miles north. It's quite the adventure..

Non-locals stay away. Magnificent location for sunset viewing. HOWEVER. We went to enjoy the sunset and grab a snack and a beer. The place looks run down. We got stares from the locals as we went in. The waiter had a friendly attitude (at least). We ordered ceviche (undercooked, nearly raw), patacones avec guacamole-mashed black beans(those were pretty good I must admit) and something resembling fish'n chips. After what I feel was a long time the food came, we missed the sunset and oh, did I mention the stray dogs roaming around the restaurant begging for scraps? We ate our food and paid the bill which was 25% overcharged just for our out-of-town looks . The nosy locals we're eating tons of food and beer enjoying a good time while we were made feel uncomfortable. One pervert was eyeballing my 6yo daughter. Will never come back nor I recommend the experience.

This little ocean side restaurant was a quick walk from our rental house in a small town. We had access to dozens of restaurants a short drive down the road but this quickly became our very favourite spot to eat on our trip. The food was amazing - especially all the daily specials with freshly caught fish. The view of the beach was stunning - a great place to enjoy a cold beer during the heat. But our favourite part of our visits here was chatting with our waiter Oscar - a local who was funny and engaging and loved to chat about all things Costa Rican.

We visited this restaurant twice, and enjoyed it both times. The food with the view of the ocean was very enjoyable. What put that extra plus on our visit that made it extra memorable? Answer: on our first visit our waiter was Adrian. Oh my gosh, he was fantastic. It was our first real visit to the community. He shared his knowledge and experiences, starting with food. He answered many questions with a big smile. It turns out he also cooks. On our second visit we found him busy in the kitchen. Our meal was fantastic!

On a recent side trip to Manzanilla we discovered what is now destined to become one of our local favorites. The Atardecer Dorado is The perfect seaside beach restaurant. It has an unbelievable view of one of the prettiest beaches in coaster Rica. We were treated to a performance of pelicans diving for their lunch as we were waiting for our fish to be served. They cook with fresh local ingredients and have managed to elevate Costa Rican cuisine to a higher plane. The grilled fish and the fresh seafood soup were spot on. What really got me going were the fried Plaintain pancakes served with our ceviche and guacamole. It may not be the healthiest way to serve a banana but it is something I intend to eat again as often as possible. Even if you're not staying in Manzilla, this is worth the trip from Santa Theresa or Mal Pais.

I have been to this place three times. The first two times it was all pretty good. Food was average and prices are right. However, the last time I had a ceviche which made me very sick for almost two days...not fun! Also, they don't give real receipts. Besides the bad experience with the ceviche, the place is in front of the beach, it serves cold beer and is visited by locals...all good. This place is better for just grabbing a quick beer and some finger food...but be careful with the ceviche! The rooms are very basic but priced right (30$)...wouldn't pay more.

Stopped there on February 16 between Samara and Montezuma. Drove on the beach road, what a feeling! overwhelming for us North Americans. Stopped at the restaurant before I hit the dirt road. The restaurant is not a fancy place. Simple but clean, people were nice and smiling, the terrace and the view made the whole stop special. I had the mix sea food plate...and I tell you...for the money I paid ( a little over $5) it was heaven. Enormous platter, and it was very good not only very much. I thought i would never be able to eat that much, but I couldn't just stop. Delicious! I also had a beer, really cold, not everywhere you can get a very cold beer in Costa Rica. It was one of best stopped for lunch during the 9 days spent in the South Costa Rica. If you ever drive between Playa Manzanillo and Santa Teresa ( South Nicoya Peninsula) take the beach road and stop at this place for lunch an a drink. It will all worth the time spent! See pictures.
