The second floor is a nice place to have a drink/beer and some tapas looking over the beach and sea. It just before the Manzanilla reserve.

I had a lunch planned by a company for my girlfriends birthday here. The table they gave us was upstairs which was nice, but the service was terrible and the food was mediocre. I would go somewhere else to have good food. Sodas Ricisimo in Puerto Viejo was much better.

It took them forever (40minutes, only 2tables occupied) to serve 1 overcooked egg with toasts and a supossed guacamole that happened to be a smashed avocado (no onion, no tomato, nothing!). Food was terrible and service even worst (and it was really difficult to overcome the food). There are many good places around. So, there's no need to spend a... More

We ate 4 times at maxi's. A couple of the meals were really nice but a couple not quite as good. I. Thought the grilled fish was good when I ordered it.

The food isnt awful or anything. and the place definitely has a party atomsphere.. BUT my girl is mostly vegetarian so I ordered some fish and she had the veggie plate.. which was EXACTLY like the fish dish except without the fish. So I had a fillet with onions and tomatoes on it with a side of rice/beans... she had... More

One of our best meals on our 2 week trip was at Maxi's. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We were able to sort of order 'off the menu' and our waitress was more than happy to help us. We had a delicious steak and lobster dinner with grilled veggies and wine. Yummm! I really enjoyed the open air... More

It's recommended on many of the guidebooks but this place really was past its prime when we visited. Its pricier than the surrounding smaller restaurant but the food they deliver doesnt live up to this. The service staff dissappeared for long periods, the food was nothing special. Go to one of the smaller family run places instead. They do have... More

The food is expensive and mediocre at best. The portions of meat were tiny and the "assorted" veggies were 90% onion. We did have a large party which made things slow, but we had also called ahead. Head to Puerto Viejo instead.

This place has an absolutely amazing jumbo shrimp salad. The fish on the menu is beautifully cooked and tastes like they caught it right out front of the restaurant to bring it to you. Ocean view and very friendly. Unimpressed with the mixed drinks but everything else was very good to excellent. The service is friendly and relaxed Caribbean style.

If this is the Maxi's in Manzanillo then it was a bit disappointing. My partner and I went as it was recommended in the Costa Rica Lonely Planet book and which raved about its seafood. Well, we waited for a minimum of 45 minutes for our cocktails to arrive and then then a further 45 minutes for the food to... More
