Was quite excited looking at menu, not too fancy or expensive with some good veggie options. The food was actualy ok although they forgot the colslaw and by the time theyd made some i was halfway through the meal. The waiter did apologise. The place was not that busy but there was a long wait, everyone just sitting looking at... More

Arranged a meet. We had varied snacks and a beer. Our food n drink was good and the other visitors all looked happy at their tables. Nice old fashioned atmosphere. We will be going back again.

Having read the reviews we were looking forward to eating at The Chequers. Sadly we were disappointed! Five of us ate and the main courses ranged from poor to average; the chips were under cooked, macaroni cheese over cooked and scampi tasteless exceot for the oil! The burger and steak and kidney pudding was average. Desserts were great and the... More

I came here with my family at the weekend as it's our local pub and were more than impressed with the food that we were served. The Steak and Guinness pie is a favorite of ours as is the homemade lasagna. My mum swears that the garlic bread here is the best she's had. We frequently come to the pub... More

Have been coming here for a couple of years now... Food is always great, ales are always good, the Guinness is always excellent, but should be considering the landlord is Irish! Good value and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. I'd recommend booking especially if you want to visit at weekends

I have been going The Chequers now for many years, and have followed the management from there previous pub. I can honestly say I have never had a bad pint here, whether it be Ale, or Lager. There is a large menu of traditional pub meals, but also a whole wall with special boards, which alters regularly. The staff have... More
