lovely setting and "front-of-house" staff were polite, friendly and courteous ......however desperately let down by the cooking staff ! Garlic bread......lumps of butter with ground garlic..... I guess they were stuck under the grill for a few seconds leaving lumps of cold butter and garlic....quite disgusting. Fish in batter.....nice fish...batter not cooked properly ...soggy on the inside.[ even after it... More

As per my photo attached, my scotch egg turned up with half the yolk missing, staff gave half hearted apologies. Girlfriends mac cheese was good, my fishcake was fine but once the limited hollandaise sauce was finished, the dish was a bit dry. No discount was offered for the missing yolk, on the contrary they tried to bill us twice... More

My last review was highly critical because roast potatoes were soggy and all piled up on each other under the sliced meat. This time, roast potatoes were deliciously crispy and most enjoyable although the sirloin beef was a little chewy, however excellent service and a good time was had by us all.

Was here for two lunchtimes in last 14 days; not been for a while. Excellent Thatchers cider and good beers. All juices, including good cloudy apple juice. Food prepared for a visit by four of us was all very well prepared and served by friendly staff; good size helpings. Menu appears to change often. Dog was permitted (under the table!)... More

Popped in for a late lunch yesterday afternoon with the family, food was great and service was pleasant, hadn't been here in about 10+ years when it used to be a brewers fayre. Times have definitely changed! We had a great time.

I recently had a large family Sunday lunch here. Food was very good, go for the "mixed roast" option, and the service was there to match too. Very family friendly, and would recommend this to others looking for a similar Sunday lunch experience

Booked in for the valentines meal at The Mark Cross Inn and was so pleased we did. We decided to go with the valentines menu as they had a vegetarian choice for all four courses. Some dishes we had not had before and we were not disappointed. All four dishes were delicious. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We... More

We took a party of eleven people here on Friday evening. Michelle the manageress was extremely helpful with the planning and made it easy for us to arrange menus etc. It is always a bit nerve-wracking taking a group to dinner because you want the whole experience to be enjoyable for everyone. We need not have worried as we had... More

Dear "j0j0mick", I am sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your breakfast with us. Our Full English is an extremely popular choice and we usually receive many compliments on them. Albeit slightly more expensive than a traditional café might offer, we pride ourselves on the breakfast we serve as being a premium breakfast, with quality, local ingredients cooked fresh... More
