We have been regulars at the Mark Cross for three years. Friendly atmosphere, great for all the family and you can bring the dog. Good range of pub food and drinks.

Everything you want from a country pub, friendly welcome, well looked after, good menu and excellent wine list. The food came out quickly and was of very good quality, not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. Lovely outdoor area with great views and very importantly, very clean toilets. Well worth finding, we will return.

We were returning from a funeral in Eastbourne and decided to stop here for dinner. The staff were friendly enough and it's a lovely, large pub. However, I was a little disappointed with the food. My sirloin steak was cooked very well, juicy and tender BUT the skinny fries that accompanied it were bland, soggy and barely warm. On the... More

lovely setting and "front-of-house" staff were polite, friendly and courteous ......however desperately let down by the cooking staff ! Garlic bread......lumps of butter with ground garlic..... I guess they were stuck under the grill for a few seconds leaving lumps of cold butter and garlic....quite disgusting. Fish in batter.....nice fish...batter not cooked properly ...soggy on the inside.[ even after it... More

As per my photo attached, my scotch egg turned up with half the yolk missing, staff gave half hearted apologies. Girlfriends mac cheese was good, my fishcake was fine but once the limited hollandaise sauce was finished, the dish was a bit dry. No discount was offered for the missing yolk, on the contrary they tried to bill us twice... More

My last review was highly critical because roast potatoes were soggy and all piled up on each other under the sliced meat. This time, roast potatoes were deliciously crispy and most enjoyable although the sirloin beef was a little chewy, however excellent service and a good time was had by us all.

Was here for two lunchtimes in last 14 days; not been for a while. Excellent Thatchers cider and good beers. All juices, including good cloudy apple juice. Food prepared for a visit by four of us was all very well prepared and served by friendly staff; good size helpings. Menu appears to change often. Dog was permitted (under the table!)... More

Popped in for a late lunch yesterday afternoon with the family, food was great and service was pleasant, hadn't been here in about 10+ years when it used to be a brewers fayre. Times have definitely changed! We had a great time.
