We are staying at the excellent grand hotel Excelsior and knew of Haywharfs restaurant from previous visits. The food is excellent with an Asian influence in some of the dishes. Portions are large and the food is very rich. Ruth is very helpful and service...is excellent. My mobility is somewhat impaired and Ruth who served us arranged for the security guard at the hotel to let us in via the security gate to save a short but steep incline. We had got a taxi down. A lovely evening. Would recommend hugely. Ruth is very kind and helpful.More

We have stayed in the Grand Excelsior a few times now and always heard (before covid) music and lots of people having fun across the marina at haywharf. So this holiday we decided to try it & OMG what a visit, we enjoyed our time...there that much we visited a further 5 times throughout our holiday. Ruth greeted us each time with her amazing friendly, helpful, customer service, she is an extremely lovely lady who made our experience extra special (as well as the other staff) Each night we ate we tried something different, each meal was just as good as the last. The pastas are so tasty, the fillet steak is so well cooked it melts in your mouth. We even managed to fit a burger in... Well a 1/4 as they are massive but super juicy far to big to finish. We spent my daughters birthday there we had a amazing birthday meal followed by a huge red velvet birthday cake all arranged by Ruth. We could only manage one slice of the second cake we had we decided to take it back to the hotel and share it with the reception staff who much appreciate a slice of cake d a cuppa. If you are ever in Malta please make sure you visit this restaurant not once but a few times to work through the menu as all the food is absolutely delicious. Well done Hay wharf and Ruth and her team.More

We were looking for a casual place close to the Excelsior Hotel and Hayward got the bill. Service was truly great (thank you Ruth). The antipasti platter is truly good and varied, filling to the nth degree. The rack of ribs was great and the...pasta dishes divine. A great experience just a few meters away from the hotel. For guests at the hotel, head down to the pool area and turn on your left. There’s a gate that leads directly to the restaurant. Add the views as an extra bonus and it’s truly worth your whole.More

We had a delicious meal here earlier this week and returned for the last night of our holiday. We weren't disappointed. The staff are very friendly and Ruth is exceptionally informative and has her diners requests at heart. My husband has a shellfish allergy and...Ruth made sure she noted this for the chef on everything he ordered. After realising on our previous visit, the portions are more than generous, we shared a Chicken Caesar Salad. This was full of chicken cooked to perfection with lovely bacon pieces over a generous serving of lettuce and tomato topped off with croutons and shavings of parmessan cheese. For our main course I chose the Rib Eye steak which was served exactly the way I requested it, cooked medium to well. The flavour was delicious and I chose a mushroom sauce to accompany it. This was served with roast potatoes and the nicest vegetables we have had on the holiday. My better half went for the Chef's Chicken which was fillet stuffed with sausage, again the verdict was excellent. Sadly we did not have room to have one of the delicious looking desserts. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable experience situated on the waters edge overlooking the bay.The price was reasonable considering we enjoyed a bottle of Valpolicella wine. We will return.More

WOW, what can I say other than this was the perfect venue for our wedding reception. We will never ever forget our time spent at the haywharf, it wasn’t just because it was our wedding day it was because all of the staff especially Svetlana...and tony put in an extra special effort to make our day extra special. I had nearly two portions of the starters because not only was the soup nice, but the cheeselets were exquisite...give us the recipe tony! The truffles pasta was delicious and I don’t even like mushrooms, so there we go. We even had a special dessert made for us which we somehow managed to eat with how generous the portions were. The view from the terrace was to die for. It was the absolute perfect setting for our wedding day. We will definitely come back to the Haywharf.More

Our experience was amazing. From Svetlana organising everything to the actual day, she was so helpful and supportive and everything she said would happen did happen. The venue is truly amazing and the staff are so attentive and every single guest said how amazing the...food was, so many thanks to the chef, Tony Smith. The whole experience was so lovely. They complete made our day. I would recommend this venue to anyone. The absolute best experience. Thank you so muchMore

The restaurant is not cheap. I would say at same level as most good restaurants on the island. Check if they have menu with prices on their website.
