We we touring the Island for the day and whilst chatting to one of our expat friends whilst enjoying the superb view of his lot with a view. The subject changed to food and restaurants and he recommended Bahay Kubo Restaurant. We arrived rather early however the host was more than happy to welcome us in. This very charming host... More

One of the must go to places when in Samal. Very personalized service by the owner Alphonse and his wife, Jacqueline Laurent. The menu was the owner himself, giving detailed and helpful comments from the appetizer, to the main course and dessert. Choice of wine was excellent, what the owners personally drink. Schnitzel, turkey, salmon and tenderloin were great main... More

When in Samal, drop by Bahay Kubo restaurant. Alfonso is a fine host and chef. I had the pink salmon. Yummy! The touch of almonds was weird at first, but it works! My friends had the burger and cordon bleu. They all loved it. And then for dessert...I am still dreaming of that Cassata! Yummy! For a full course meal,... More

When we landed samal island for the first time, we search for the best place to eat and we found The Bahay Kuno Restaurant. Our expectation was a typical filipino grill restaurant. So, before we leave the island we decided to try this place. Since, we don't know how far to Camp Holiday this place is. We still insisted to... More

I first reviewed this resto in October 2014, as "very good". But a recent subsequent visit was so good, I have now upgraded my review to excellent! Well done, guys!

Went there without reservation. Luckily there was no guest yet. The chef/owner decided to cook for us (12 hungry persons) based on his best recipes. We just trusted him to prepare our food. He was so fast in preparing the foods and in no time, we finished almost all the foods. It was superb lunch. We are very happy and... More

Samal island food is mostly local and grilled dishes. Bahay Kubo may be very Filipino in name, but the food it serves is continental European. Our large group ate here last December, and we were very happy and full with the food. Price is not that expensive - for a meal with appetizer, main, dessert, and drinks, average would be... More

My girlfriend and I had a late lunch / early dinner at Bahay Kubo. I did not have high expectations since the restaurants we had visited at Samal was average but this place was so good that I will recommend it to everyone visiting Samal. We had great seafood for starter. First starter was (sorry if I'm wrong) smoked blue... More
