Nice pub in a lovely location. Staff were friendly and with a smile al the time. When it came to carvery time we were 'escorted' to the carvery room and watched the whole time by a lady in the corner. Off putting and old fashioned. The same person did it with every table and stood there writing down what people... More

Had an evening meal on a Sunday, few other pubs were serving so we gave it a try. We went for the carvery. Ordered drinks at the bar, staff were just civil, not particularly friendly. Service at the carvery again did not make us feel very welcome. The food was ok, veg not overcooked, had better roast potatoes but they... More

Had a New Year's Eve dinner as always food was very good. A free house so plenty of choice of beers. Very accommodating and very friendly. The menu is somthing to see. The Admiral Hood is always mentioned when a good pub grub is discussed. You need to book for Sunday Lunch. We have a visitor that insists we book... More

My husband and I were passing through and noticed this beautiful old pub and immediately did a u turn. My husband booked the table for later that evening and I wished I hadn't let him go inside on his own. The menu was overwhelming which I think is their biggest mistake. Stick to a limited menu and do it properly,... More

My parents, who don't go out that much visited the Admiral Hood after I suggested it. Unfortunately it was a terrible experience. They could not eat their meal. The chips were hard and very dry. My Dads mash potato was cold an lumpy in the middle and neither of them were able to finish their meal. Such a shame as... More

Visiting family who booked a meal here for our rare get together, 5 adults. We arrived promptly for our reserved table at 6:30 and all seemed well. However we were hassled for our order as soon as we were seated and our drinks order seemed to be a problem for those behind the bar. As soon as we had finished... More

The pub is popular and thriving. It serves excellent food and has a large menu. There are also many interesting and varied vegetarian options. There is a good all round selection of beers. The atmosphere is cheerful and attracts many people from surrounding villages.

With 6 adults and 2 children (2.5 and 5 years old) we booked for a Birthday celebration meal after 2 of the adults had driven past a couple of times and so we read the reviews and thought let's give it a go and booked. We went today (a Sunday) and our table was waiting for us lovely and comfortable.... More
