Every time a new surprise... When you sit down don't think about the menu just let the staff guide you, you will always get something interesting and of course fresh from live lobsters to squid that change color. Nikola is great place for fresh fish and friendly staff. Can't wait to come again

We had a fantastic meal here. The owner Nikola and his Son, Luca could not have been more friendly and helpful. The fish was so tasty and they were so accommodating to my Son, who just fancied a bowl of vegetarian pasta. Loved the choice of wines by the glass. Particularly the desert wine and the deserts were really good too. The Tuna was a real stand out. If in Split, this restaurant should be on your list!

Recently 12 of us dine in Nikola and it was a hreat experience for all of us. We let Nikola to prepare courses for us; fish carpaccio and octopus salad, pasta with scampi, vegetable risotto and scampi risotto. Grilled king size scampi and fresh toothfish. We took all type of deserts available. Trully memorable

I took a taxi from split old town it’s a short taxi ride , I get there and I’m the only one so I figured I’m going to have an amazing experience. I sat down and wasn’t offered a menu he wheeled out the fresh catch and seafood of the day and told me this is what’s in season. He never discussed prices of each thing which was weird, but I did ask how much is the scallops and he said 4 euro so I said no problem. I’m alone and I always over order which again I don’t care! But other people (locals) started coming in and they immediately received menus So I was like mmm interesting. The food was great except the stuffed clams with mushrooms I didn’t like at all! And the fresh fish was overcooked one minute to long! The tuna carpaccio was very fresh and the grilled scallops and grilled clams were excellent. The bill came for one person and it was about 1,000 kuna about $160 usd I live in Nyc and I eat out almost everyday But I felt like I got trapped Tourist trap! I Always ask to see the menu it’s my fault But beware ask for prices first! Also never asked me if I want dessert or coffee!!!?? Anyway for me I Went once and that’s enough. It’s unfortunate because so many great reviews

Konoba Nikola is definitely worth the trip!!! We started with the fried squid which has to be the best we have ever has. So tender and so fresh. They bring out their specials on a cart which can be prepared the way you want, in addition to the menu selection. I had the fresh scallops which were to delicious! My husband had the pasta and shrimp... very good wine selection and the service was top notch. Will definitely go back on future trips to Split.

I was here with friends and at first I was sceptical entering the basement, but as we sat down everything was worth it even the 15 min drive. We tried fresh tuna carpaccio it's a must they also have huge wine list and don't be afraid to ask anything staff is very very friendly. Nikola is amazing and i'm sure I will come back!!!

Took taxi from Split, took about 15 minutes. Go down some stairs, and there is restaurant. Very warm welcome, no menu, trolley brought over with fresh catch available, scallops, lobster, scampi, sea bass, sea bream etc. etc. The scallops are in their shells, alive, Adriatic, at €10 each. We ordered tuna carpaccio to start, and scampi and sea bass as mains, my fish “about €35”. Some other tourists come to the next table, they are shown the trolley, but the wife insists on seeing the menu and, lo and behold, they bring a large menu over; we were never told about this. They did end up ordering much the same as us. And the fish was good. No meat was offered. The house red wine by the glass wasn’t very nice, I tried a different one and that wasn’t very nice either. We paid £120 for two people including wine by the glass.

This is the best meal we had in Croatia during our more than one week of stay. The restaurant is on the outskirt of the town so be ready to drive or take a long Uber. The outside of the restaurant would make you question if you’re at the right place, but once you go inside it’s very elegant and cozy. The waiter showed us the fresh seafood they had in a cart (the lobster was even still alive) and gave us recommendations how they could cook them (I believe some are not on the menu, you just have to ask and propose what you like). We took his recommendations and ordered a scampi carpaccio, two scallops in the shell, and some mussels in white wine sauce for the starter. The scampi was so fresh with a bit of sweetness. The scallops were extraordinary, cooked just to the right texture and temperature that it melts on your tongue. We ordered lobster and scampi pasta with red wine sauce. Again the food was extraordinary and we finished everything. This is truly the hidden gem of Split and if you like seafood, make sure you come here during your time in Split. It’s totally worthwhile the trouble getting out of the town and we’ll remember this meal in years coming.

We have visited this restaurant on more than one occasion and our expectations are always exceeded even though we know how fantastic it is! The food is fantastic, I've tried the steak as well as the seafood and every mouthful was delicious! The wine is great too and really compliments the food. We asked the staff to prepare a birthday cake for our grandma and they did not disappoint! The cake was beautiful and it was very reasonably priced. Thank you so much we had the best time!

Definitely the best fresh seafood in Split. (maybe in Croatia). Nikola welcomes you as one of his house. If you want to eat in a luxury restaurant in town forget this konoba, if instead you want enjoy a wonderful dinner and don’t forget it Konoba Nikola is the right place for you. Is recommended to reserve because the restaurant seats few people and it is full all year round . Thanks to Nikola...

So we went to this restaurant based on the recommendation of the owner of our rental place. She said that “the local people go here for fresh seafoods.” When we arrived, there was no menu, the server asked us if we wanted seafoods. We said yes, and he brought out a cart, on which he presented lobsters, fresh fish and fresh scallops. My kids got excited and asked for lobsters. We were suspicious so we asked for the menus. Average dishes on it varies from €40-€60. We asked how much are the lobsters, he said €100 per kg. We come from California so we don’t lack lobsters. My kids decided on something else. The server suggested that we order the fish, he can prepare 1/2 fish for me and my husband to share. We asked how much is the fish, he said €80/kg, and half of the fish is 1.3kg. We ended up paying over €300 for dinner for 4 with juts a bottle of local wine and water. We have eaten better, tastier foods for much less.

Let me start with another story. Recently I have visited one restaurant twice in very short period of time, first time was perfect, few days after, if I did not recognize interior I would think we are in some mediocre place with mediocre food. See, this will never happen in Nikola. Their signature is consistency with food they source and prepare, dinning here is a sure thing, high quality in every aspect is what they are going by. Food very seasonal and prepared to your taste, asparagus fritatta is amazing (you can have it full veggie, with scampi or bacon), and that is just for start, risotto or sea food pasta, nicely grilled fish with wild vegetables, wine, wine, when you come just look around. Visiting is a must as a reservation :)

We had great time in this restaurat! The service is so nice, polite and helpful. We ate octopus salad, fish pate, grilled fish, clamshells and everything was so tasty. The price is higher than at other restaurants.

Konoba Nikola was recommended by our hotel to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday and it certainly didn’t disappoint!! It’s a small and intimate restaurant - easy to get to from Split by bus or taxi. The waiters were friendly and professional - as with most places in and around Split, their English was impeccable and they explained all the available fish & seafood. My husband had “the best squid” he’s ever had and I had the veal medallions in mushroom sauce - which was divine! Highly recommend this restaurant!

No comment about the food, that was fine. It was also quite expensive for Croatia, but really nice anyway. Good wine suggestion. Service was below average though. We were pointed to what turned out to be the worst table of the restaurant, even though the place was empty. There was just one table occupied (two Croatian men at a table for four), and while we were having dinner only two other couples entered. Waiter was coldly polite but not friendly. Not a bad experience, but not the nice evening we were expecting either. Split has a much nicer atmosphere and restaurants that are just as good.
