There are signs everywhere indicating that masks are mandatory on the water taxi - yet no one, even the "captain" wore won. We were outside, I get it, but still sitting pretty much on top of one another and if you're not going to require...them, then why have the signs? The restaurant itself was OK - food was good; waiter was unengaged and had his gator down around his neck the majority of the time - again, outside. Staff inside seemed better about masking - patrons hardly did at all even when walking around the gift shop, etc.. We didn't find any water views from an outside table, which was a bit of a bummer. Guess expectations of a place that you need to boat to get to were higher than they should have been. It's hard to tell from the pictures. We would consider going back just for the boat ride - grab a drink to go, and head back. The drink menu was fabulous.More

Total of 6 in our party. All had cold food and something wrong with their order. I was overcharged and when brought to waitress's attention was not taken off bill. Service was extremely slow and restaurant was not busy at all. Also soap dispenser in...bathroom was broken.More

Came by boat, not many spaces to dock but was easy to maneuver. 5 of us had lunch and loved everything. Shrimp tacos, grouper taco (special order) and hamburger. Hamburg was cooked perfectly for my chef brother in law. Shrimp tacos were flavorful and grouper...was excellent. All came with a salad, and two side choices including bake potato. My husband loved the fries. Salads were fresh and cold. Coleslaw was good. We all look forward to another trip out there.More

My family and I wanted to like this place, and tried really hard to because it’s the only offering on the island. The food could have been cooked by a 5 year old. Everything was soggy. The fries smelled horrible. The brocoli must have been...put into a microwave under a soggy paper towel. The fish that was « goldened » had a soggy layer of unknown crust on it that ruined the whole thing. The bun smushed the fish together without even the slightest buttery toast on it, cold and from the bag. The beans? Straight from the can. I write this because this place is beautiful, but the restaurant knocks the whole place down a few notches due to little effort towards the simplest of things.More

A group of us from the Venice Florida Corvette Club dined at the Rum Bay Restaurant on November 14th 2020. Willis was our server. He handled our group very professionally. We enjoyed Burgers to full meals without any issues. The foods were well presented and...the quality and quantity was great. Give these guys a try as they will not disappoint. WT CoteMore

Had the shrimp and ribs plate - good portion size and priced right. My wife had the calamari which although was fresh had a lot of extra salt on it. Wait staff was great and very attentive. Food was hot and served nicely.

What a terrible experience Some old nasty man with light colored hair and light mustache basically gave us the boot. My husband and 2 kids showed up to go eat at Rum bay, gets some ice cream. Perhaps rent a golf car to drive around...the island. He told me I couldn’t bring my towel. I had a small straw bag holding my sons lunch and my purse. Brought one towel in case we got caught in the rain. He proceeded to yell there is no public beach and I can’t bring my towel. I was already aware there was no public beach. Well I was thinking of buying a home on palm island but I guess not now. This how they treat their guests I can’t imagine how they treat their residents. What a shame.More

When you can only reach a place by boat, how much better can it be? Well Rum Bay is well worth the trip. Accessible by ferry, water taxi, or personal boat it is a fantastic slice of Florida. Take a little planning but well worth...it. The menu is varied and fresh. During the current Covid situation we never felt anything but welcomed and secure. Staff was warm & friendly as well as Covid compliant, as was the restaurant. Great lunch.More

I've seen dogs only on outside deck where you can eat at tables with umbrellas. There's approx 8 tables outside. I'd go mid-afternoon when there would be more outside tables available. Also, not sure if you can take... More
