Visited here while on holiday. Really nice place to eat. Beautiful food, wine and setting. Professional and attentive service. Could have stayed all afternoon!

We went to buy some wine, ended up getting a tour of the entire place, it was very impressive, with friendly staff and great wine!

Eight of us had lunch during the HB F.A.W.C. A couple of us had the chef's special FAWC menu which was excellent. There was a smoked fish croquette with a delicious sauce, perfectly cooked pork belly with relish, a sauce and some vegetables and for dessert, a trio with a mini pavlova, mini bombe alaska and maybe mini brownie. Anyway... More

Booked a table for two, because with Black Barn it's hard to just turn up and hope. Rolled up, got seated, expressed disappointment that we weren't at the window, but carried on as normal. Ordered the excellent Black Barn bubbles and studied menu. Got disturbed by the house manager asking us if we'd like to move to the window seats... More

This is an absolutely beautiful place. I'd recommend eating here just for the pleasure of the location and the spectacular setting. I didn't get a big kick out of the food but my fellow diners did. I did love the wine though!

Enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and the wine. Friendly, top notch service. Had the exquisite lamb and the moreish Merlot. Never fails to impress.

We visited here for a meal as part of the F.A.W.C experience. After a slow start with the service we all enjoyed our three course meal on a beautiful sunny day in a lovely setting. The menu was set by the chef and each course was well presented and delicious, especially the desert ,which was a trio of chocolate mallow... More

Our group of 3 couples thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Black Barn Bistro. Beautiful food and wines (free tastings as you go in) matched with excellent service. By coincidence we were in town at the time of the Food and Wine Club festival so 3 of our group took the FAWC 3 course set menu for $50 and loved it.... More

Had a superb lunch with friends,on a cloudy winters day in warm cosy surroundings. The views from our dining table overlooking the" Bay " added to the special ambience of Black Barn Bistro. The service was faultless and the food excellent

We had a wonderful experience. Though we didn't make reservations but Stefan, the host accommodated us during the Queens birthday weekend. We basked in the sun while waiting for our table with drinks were offered to us. Amazing service from a team of 5 staff only attending to the whole restaurant. Great ambience and scenery of the vineyard. We bought... More

Open for lunches and Friday evenings for dinner, Black Barn Bistro is the perfect place to spend an hour or two absorbing the atmosphere of Wine Country. It is in the heart of the vineyard surrounded by vines and a table on the large generous veranda lets you look right out across the region. In warmer weather a courtyard covered by a canopy of grapes is also a perfect place to enjoy lunch and a glass of wine. The restaurant menu is light, fresh and delicious. There is an emphasis on freshly grown Hawkes Bay produce, the selection changes with the seasons. The bistro is available for private functions, evening and during the day, it is also the perfect venue for a very limited number of weddings, for bookings or enquiries please give us a call.
