wife and I (mid 70s) travel to eat great foods, quality and flavors. we both fully enjoyed the experience: the shrimp tempura (shared), cheeses quiche (wife), venison (me), highly attentive and caring wait staff who all assisted in a timely manner, and excellent choices of wine. ps: sharing the maple cake with coffee is special.

We came here for dinner on the strength of the TripAdvisor reviews but were disappointed. On the plus side, the restaurant is located in an attractive part of lower old Quebec town, near the 'break-neck' stairway and the funicular; and being in the lower town, one does not have to face a walk up the hill. However, beyond this it... More

Just a great restaurant...everything from the host, to the wait staff, to the food. Loved the french onion soup. Make sure you save room for the desserts! We enjoyed sitting on the patio...slightly congested, but incredible atmosphere.

Our walking tour happened to end right in front of this restaurant at 12 noon, so we conveniently grabbed a patio table. Enjoyed ice cold beers, French onion soup, and the pecan cranberry salad. My boyfriend had the elk burger. Everything we tried was delicious and the service was excellent. Great spot to people watch and a beautiful view. Highly... More

We went out looking for dinner on a rainy night without any reservations in the old city. We just happened upon this place and they told us that they had no places left without a reservation, however there was a reservation that had not yet shown up. If we wanted to wait 20 minutes for them to show or not... More

We stopped here late one afternoon during our trip. The staff was excellent and very helpful. We were able to sit outside on the patio on a beautiful afternoon and watch people walk by. The waiter guided us towards the perfect beer, we then had a very generous portion of french onion soup and shared a tasting platter. The tasting... More

We were basically enjoying all that the old city offers when it was starting to get late for lunch. The restaurant was still busy, a good sign. After looking over the posted menu, we walked in to try. A carafe of water was brought to us, which was nice since all the walking required rehydration. My wife and daughter ordered... More

Good location - close by the funicular. Good food - I had the onion soup (not the best I had in Quebec but perfectly acceptable) and the duck confit which was excellent. Beer on draught and a mid-range price. Good service by friendly waiters. All in all you won't be disappointed.

Husband and I ate late in the evening. The setting was lovely. The food was mediocre. My husband had a steak that had a significant amount of gristle. The waiter was kind enough not to charge for the steak. The next night we ate outside the wall and had the best meal of the trip.

In the midst of a hectic day and a crowded area, the small table on the porch looked inviting. We were surprised by the Elk burger and fries and the soups. What could have been merely a place to "refuel" turned out to be a spot to return to. If you like beer, tey the Ambroise Noir.
