In spite of the stellar reviews we found the service to be a bit slow, the chairs hard and the food OK. Our server was nice enough but overall, the food just didn't meet our expectations. Pretty good red wine. Probably won't return.

We had a perfectly wonderful dinner tonight at Mistral Gagnant. The caesar salad and salmon tartare we had to begin our evening were both delicious. My husband had beef tenderloin with mushroom sauce. The beef was cooked exactly as he ordered and the sauce was to die for. I had the mahi mahi with a high presto sauce and it... More

This is a lovely, classically French small restaurant. Each course beautiful prepared, textures, tastes simple and beautifully executed. A quiet respite in a beautiful city.

What a pleasant surprise. After the crowds of people in Old Quebec it was a pleasure to find Le Mistral Gagnant on a quiet street. We were warmly greeted and sat at a prime table in the window. The service was attentive, the wine recommendation spot on and the food delicious. Loved the escargot and the bouillabaisse. The décor was... More

If you cannot afford to go to France then go to Mistral Gagnant in old Quebec. The decor atmosphere and food are classic French with better service. We were a group of 8 and we all had very good meals. If you are a Caesar salad lover then don't miss the Caesar at this restaurant.

We enjoyed our dinner sitting in the window seat watching the passersby while we dined. The food was all quite good, although the only dish I clearly recall is the very nice lemon pie. The service was somewhat disorganized, and we were served out starters twice.

Best dinner so far in Quebec City! We explained to our concierge that we are not finding much to our liking and she suggested Mistral Gagnant nearby to our hotel St Germaine. Excellent. And as another reviewer mentioned we sat literally on the window sill and loved it. A true French ambiance, the owner very solicitous, and food prepared simply... More

The décor is very quaint and reminiscent of the south of France. We received personal service from the proprietor who made sure we enjoyed our evening. The food was great and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.

Hubby found this place in one of the travel books. The food is good and decently priced for what you get but it didn't really wow me. It was just about 2-3 blocks from our Hotel 71 so that was convenient. The owner who tripled as a waiter and bus boy has been on TV with accolades from Trip Advisor... More
