After a full morning taking in art at MNBAQ, my boyfriend, his mom and I made it down to Lower Town to grab a bite. We thought to stop in at Cochon Dingue on Rue Champlain, to fuel up before sightseeing some more. My boyfriend's mom started with their delicious onion and red ale soup. It was a delicious twist... Everyone loved their food. Ribs, fries, burger, and many other things all 5 of us had something different and everyone loved theirs. We were hungry and tired and this restaurant welcomed us in and had such a warm comfortable feeling and atmosphere. Great for a couple or a family. Great food, Great root beer, full bar, great everything....good looking pastries... More

Although the food was nothing to write home about, it was still more than adequate and we quite enjoyed our breakfast here more so than our dinner. The breakfast menu felt a little more unique and generous compared to the dinner menu. Service was prompt and our orders arrived swiftly.

Always get a great creative breakfast at Cochin Dingue. The eggs Benedict was awesome. 2 eggs, yogurt, smoothie, potatoes and cappuccino. The poutine was really good with a latte. The server was exceptional. Ask for Catherine M. One of our favorite places.

Cochon Dingue was where we landed, late in the day, after 10 hours of traveling. It was very busy, but worth the wait. My two daughters and I each enjoyed a perfect cup of French Onion soup and shared the delicious seafood pot pie. Our waitress (Priscilla?) was lovely and welcoming and gave an excellent first impression of Quebec City.... More

Busy, to be sure, but very attentive staff, great beers on tap with a spot-on menu that's not overwhelming. We had poutine, salmon tartare (awesome), and tarte au sucre (sugar pie) for dessert (MUST try). Liked that they had crudité for the kids-- much better than fried food. Great coloring books for the kids, as well. Right in the heart... More

Decided to pay the Cochon Dingue Champlain a visit as a must try in Quebec City and was pretty disappointed. Expensive for small portions and did not feel very welcome not knowing much French. Service was not great and staff was not really able to explain to us well that the day we went in albeit a weekday was considered... More

This is a great spot to stop for a hearty breakfast. The old fashioned hot chocolate was so good. The waffles, French toast were favorites as were the healthier options of omelets and oatmeal.

After a week in Quebec, this became our "go to" restaurant. It's located near the base of the Funicular. The food was wonderful and the service staff terrific. A lot of locals eat there, and the overall ambience is local chic. Best value for the dollar, even the Canadian ones.

Excellent food and cocktails! Onion Soup was the best we had while in Quebec. Extremely busy, so I'd recommend making reservations.
