I did not believe all the reviews but....from the moment I sent my email for a reservation our experience could not have been better. I received a very timely and friendly email response confirmation. My husband and I sat at the small bar and I...swear it is true it was like dropping in at a friends house for dinner. So comfortable. Conversation flowed as easily as the delicious wine(let them select for you!) every course was tremendous try as much as you can! We will definitely stop in again next time in Quebec.More

So sad this restaurant is closing because the owner wants to retire. Our second visit to this fabulous bistro. Food is always 5 star.

This is my second visit in 3 months to this fine establishment. I was with 2 friends and we basically felt we were have a dinner party in the comfort of our home but with amazing drink and food prep pared by an amazing chef....The two gentlemen know how to host dinner guests and everything about this experience was to perfection. Love the coziness and wall bird with all their wines. I really like how the menu is presented and truly think this coziness with exquisite flavor is something, if I come back to QC, will always be a place I go to. Thank for the memory gentlemen and thank for telling and showing me how a restaurant should execute in such an intimate setting. 2 visits in 3 months and still 5 ⭐️!More

Excellent and eclectic menu. The experience is very intimate with the chef being involved in the meal experience and describing the thinking behind the dishes. The wine selection is excellent. Overall the food is amazing and there seems to be a propensity towards having a...lamb dish as an options. In addition, the fois gras dessert is a must try.More

Wonderful experience here as the restaurant is about 15 minutes from the Old city...the specialty is pairing the right food with the right wine, small menu crafted basically right in front of you... Two gents who run it were the most hospitable hosts in a...restaurant setting that I’ve ever encountered... warm, funny, and affable, the dishes of lamb, scallop, boiled beef and accompaniments and then incredible dessert make this a “ must do” on any trip... Small, intimate setting creates an oasis for this culinary adventure... We’ll be back! Merci monsieurs!More

It is possible....sand I say this with all sincerity....that this might be one of the best meals I have ever had at a restaurant. It seemed like they got everything right....the food, the service, the ambiance. While I could go on for some time, teh...borttom lionre is that these two guys combine their genius (Benoit & Laurance, I believe) to create something inimitable. Benoit has a curious and incredible way of putting together flavors and textures in way that will leave you speechless. While he is doing that, Laurence is both the waiter and the host --and he is amazing at both. Very friendly without being annoying, explains what we are eating and seems to know telepathically when to come back to the table or to leave you alone. I also have to say that you might be thinking that your Lyft driver brought you to the wrong address. The restaurant is an a somewhat "unassuming" part of town and the facade of the building will win no awards for architecture. Instead, these guys invest their energies in what you came for --an exceptional meal in a relaxed atmosphere. And for this folks on here who whine about the need for a reservation...get over it. It is a small place that stays that way to keep the quality at its peak. Unless you live in QC or nearby, just plan ahead a little bit and you will be fine. I know you might be wondering how it can be this good. But it is something that you must experience to understand it, I suppose.More

We booked a few weeks ahead as this is a popular place. Only seats about 20, so there is lots of space. Both guys are excited about food and the menu reflects this. Interesting choices for all three courses meant we had an incredible eating...experience with a great bottle of wine from their extensive collection. Every table was full, even on a chilly Wednesday in October when we were there.More

What an experience! We had a night to get away from the old city in Quebec and at the last minute made a reservation at this restaurant. They got us in and holy cow, every aspect, including the other patrons made this an amazing experience....My wife and I each had an starter dish followed by the lamb and duck and wrapped up with two amazing desserts, the ‘key lime’ pie without any key limes, and their take on a brownie. Really every bite hit all the taste buds in right way. From texture, to flavor, to temperature, the food was perfect. Best lamb dish I have had in ages. They included Beets with the side of vegetables and I don’t like Beets, but I did tonight. My wife and I don’t drink too much wine but clearly, as you can see from all over the chalk boards, wine matters to these two co-owners. Such a gastronomic experience filled with great conversation and a fine dining experience the way it should be. I can’t recommend this establishment enough. It is the type of place that makes me a foodie and I want to try more places just like it. Highly recommended and reservations only on Sunday-Thursday. No Fri or Sat dining.More

We had a fantastic dinner at IX Pour Bistro last night. The 2 man team creates a very relaxed and fun atmosphere. It’s rare to find incredible food in a setting that’s not too stuffy. They’ve created a perfect blend! They chose a perfect wine...for us, based on our preferences. We had 3 appetizers (the onion soup and lamb belly were both outstanding), 2 entrees (pork butt melted in the mouth and polenta was amazing), and all 3 desserts that were presented. I would recommend every single thing on the menu. You cannot go wrong here - a hidden gem that I’m so glad we found! We even enjoyed conversations with friendly diners sitting near us from around the world.More
