If you have never tasted a poutine this is the standard of a poutine. Ashton has the best sauce and fries are top notch with the curds that make music when you bite in it. Poutine from Ashton is a must when you hit Quebec city.

The food here was really nice, but honestly I have had better poutine. I don't consider myself an expert on the dish but being from Northern England I do know my gravy and this wasn't the best gravy. I've had better poutine from other places. Though apparently this is where poutine was 'invented' (don't quote me) so of course I... More

We were reluctant to try this Quebec specialty and bought one swerving to split between 4 adults. We were 1/2 way through when we ordered 2 more!!

Okay, we didn't have poutine everywhere, but we had it in a bunch of places and this was far and away the best. Gravy was light and not too greasy. The cheese curd to fry ratio was spot-on so you had some nice squeaky cheese in every mouthful. Also incredibly inexpensive. If you search "best poutine" (as I did) in... More

Visiting Quebec, I was told that I had to try this local specialty. Ashton was one of the local places that offered this. It seemed more like a fast food joint to me and I wasn't very impressed with this dish. That really shouldn't be a reflection on the restaurant though - french fries with cheese and gravy is just... Chez Ashton's poutine was one of the best I've tried, with real potatoes (not those highly processed fries), a delicious light brown gravy, and real cheese curds! The staff were also very very nice. I appreciated being able to select exactly what toppings I wanted on my burger, and when I asked about a refill of my drink, they were... More

Chez Ashton is the fast food of QC and is one of the only places open after everything else is closed. We ate the poutine there and it was loaded with cheese curds, loved it!

Not sure what a good poutine should taste like I can't really comment on the merit of the place. It is the best tasting one I have tried so far. The chips are crispy and well cooked, the gravy isn't too strong or overpowering and the cheese has great chewy texture (real squeaky cheese). Overall it is very tasty. Reminds... More

We wanted a light lunch while checking out the city so stopped in here. You get what you pay for. Served in a foil tray - soggy fries, in tasteless gravy with sliced hot dogs and cheese ( and I say that with question) that does not even melt. The picture showed ground beef as well but I guess they... More

Ashton's poutine is one of the best you can get in Quebec City. Every time I am in need for one, Aston's is my spot.
