After our last trip to Montreal, I expected good but not great food. Code Ambiance happily proved me wrong! Our meal began with the venison tartar. (When we asked the server/owner to help us decide between venison and lamb, we got a coin to flip!) As yankees, the best that we can hope for at home is a tasty beef... More

We were passing by and drawn in by the 2-for-1 martini special. Admittedly didn't try any food, but after taking the opportunity to check out the menu and chat with the owner I am looking forward to heading back. Eclectic mix of game meats and the desserts look divine.

I had the ceviche and the tuna tartar. Everything was fresh and service was good but I wasn't impressed by anything. Seasoning, presentation and garniture were ok but felt uninspired. My overall experience was good but there is better in that area and at this price range.

Normal service Good quality of ingredients but the garniture needs to have more variety ( we got so many little potato's... Poor ambiance for a place that bares the name... A good place overall but overrated! You could eat same or better in a very nice and elegant restaurant in downtown. Suggest to go inside first and then decide to... More

Last year we wantes to eat at this restaurant but it was always full. This time we were lucky and were able to get a reservation on the same day. We went with friends of ours. We were very happy with the quality of the food, the flavors and the portions! Excellent wine reco! Prices are good. Nice decor! Service... More

Bastien the owner and sommelier was super attentive and the food was very good. Interesting presentation, textures, awesome gravy (you can dip your olive bread into), and just the right quantity. I cleaned my plate like a well behaved child. A lovely wine pairing - Pfeiffer Carbernet-Merlot. Bastien gets it right. Finished off with a Crème brûlée and a Grand... More

I discovered this restaurant by coincidence and ended up going on a Saturday evening with my wife. To be honest, I was expecting more based on its tripadvisor ranking (#78 in Montreal). The place was empty, there was only a table of 4 besides us: it was a cold evening so it might have been that... All this said, the... More

Ended up this part of town almost by mistake and thought to try this little eaterie as I was tempted by the exterior. The selection of wines is indeed very good (price range: middle to high), although the sommelier can be a bit overbearing (he tries to be helpful, of course). Menu on the very small side (usually, a good... More

What a great meal! We are visiting from USA. My cousin from Montreal suggested we try this restaurant. The service was fantastic. The dried pork rosette appetizer was exquisite. Two of us had the cod and coconut //spiced carrot purée. Very yummy! Flank steak was so tender....prepared w delicious herbed butter sauce and the zucchini frittata/quiche was simple yet elegant.... Staying in Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)

Neighborhood Profile
Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)
Once the core of industrialized Montreal, the factories and historic buildings of Le Sud-Ouest have been renovated into homes, museums, and small businesses. The rejuvenated landscape has put its Saint-Henri district in vogue, with cutting-edge galleries and an ever-expanding network of restaurants. Foodies can especially delight in the mom-and-pop shops in Little Burgundy, or at the Atwater Market, where outdoor stalls sell fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat, street vendors have menus of hot fish and wine, and the indoor market offers chocolate, breads, and coffee beans. Dominated by the gentle waters of the Lachine Canal, Le Sud-Ouest is still very much an outdoor town, with a number of pedestrian-only bridges traversing the waters, bike paths along the canal with views of the Leisure Boats, and massive green spaces like Angrignon Park to stop for a picnic, or to play a sport.
