Very nice “Old school” Italian restaurant. Extremely clean restaurant with excellent service. Will definitely return.

Yummy Yum Yum! We will definitely return and try again: 1. The Antipasto (grilled zucchini, red peppers (peeled) and pleurote mushrooms). 2. The Vegetarian Pizza, with added Prochiutto. 3. The Pugliese Pizza (Italian sausage, anchovies, bacon and cheese). I never eat the crust, neither does...my husband. But I noticed that everyone including me was eating the crust, it was so good. The best pizza so far in all my years in Montreal. We were three and shared all of the above. Service by Carlos was excellent and friendly. The delightful owner came over and we enjoyed his stories. A great evening!More
Great service very attentive wait staff. Food was good and generous especially with wine pour. Special was very affordable and nice variety.
If you feel like Italian and you want to have lunch/dinner in a nice cozy wood fire oven restaurant in downtown then La Pizzella is the place to go. You will be enchanted by the courteous service, the good quality and the cozy atmosphere. This...restaurant is best suited for small business lunch/dinners and Tete à Tete/ Romantic encounters. They also have a nice variety of wine options and the prices are reasonable. However they do not offer a wide variety of deserts.More
I went with my food group and we were a large number. The waiters could not have been more accommodating. This resto is downtown, and has an old-world and very stylish decor. It actually reminded me of another resto l'autre saison, which has similar classy...decor but is not nearly as friendly. I'd not been to La Pizzella before and the name put me off a bit and I was thinking it would be mostly pizza. Not so. We had a table d'hote to choose from or we could order from the menu, which is not often the case; a large group might not have the option. I went for the fixed price with an asparagus in a vinegarette starter and the spicy tomato sauce over pasta with large grilled shrimp. The starter was divine. The main good enough, but I thought the sauce could have used something more than just the spicey pepper for heat. The shrimps were perfectly cooked. Dessert for me was creme caramel and two bites in and I'd had enough. It wasn't a good one, but then I should have ordered one of the Italian desserts. I would return here. The price was very reasonable, and that includes the Cosmo I had at the get-go. I think just about everyone in my group enjoyed their meal, which came with a simple focaccia and a dish of olives plus warm rolls served while we waited for everyone to arrive. Overall a wonderful experience.More
After visiting mount royal we came across this restaurant and decided on it for dinner. We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to get us in. Everything was wonderful. There was only one waiter, and although he was extremely busy, couldn't have been...more friendly or attentive. It was a delightful evening. The dinner special was a wonderful way to try different things. Everything from start to finish was delicious.More
Lovely old fashioned restaurant complete with crisp white table linen. Excellent food just about as good as it can get.
We dined here at the suggestion of friends who are regulars. We were all greeted as if family. The ambiance is old world charm, feels like someone’s home. The servers are attentive and very professional. Not college students on their way to different careers. The...food choices are vast and typical Italian classic fare. As soon as we were seated the waiter brought delicious small pizza slices and marinated olives, along with ice water. The pizza was thin and crispy, covered with delicious tomato sauce. A hint of a great pizza oven. We ordered off the Tale d’hôte menu, which offered a three course meal at a reasonable price. We enjoyed the eggplant parmesan, a classic dish. The escargot in Gorgonzola sauce was rich and delicious. The mains were all very good, especially the shrimps in Fra Di Avola sauce. The latter was the best I ever had, as if prepared with love (my wife’s terms). Tomato sauce with a hint of chilli heat and lots of garlic. I enjoyed mine served mixed with traditional pasta. My wife opted to switch for veggies. No problem and both were outstanding . Our friends raved about Osso Bucco and Veal Scalopini. The full meal is finished with a choice of desserts (fair) and coffee or tea. We were wondering how we’d never been to this classic Italian restaurant before. We will definitely be back.More
Hubby and I arrived without reservations around 745 on a Tuesday night and were seated immediately. The restaurant is very lovely with dark wood and soft lighting. There is an upstairs area for larger parties. The wait staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Hubby and...i both ordered the linguine pescadore and loved it! In a delicious light tomato sauce, it came with sweet clams , mussels, calamari, scallops and shrimp. It was one of the meals we had in Montreal and worth the $35 Canadian price. We will come back again.More
never used to go along this part of the city so we decided to walk up st- mathieu, on our way to the museum and noticed this restaurant...tried it last night ...we were not disappointed.. food was great and the wine was pleasant... the waiter...was funny , the sour-type....had a funny reaction when we ask for wine by the glass..Lol.....but he was entertaining .. very classic italian fare, the seafood was terrific...will go back for the pizzaMore
It was a pleasant surprise to find this gem. The hotel gave us very little help in finding this restaurant but we told them to recommend it to other quests. We enjoyed our meal, the wine, the service and it’s old world ambiance. Rigatoni with...sausage sauce, gnocchi, rolled lasagne, sirloin steak, salads were all perfect. Great flavor. We did not order pizza but want to go back to experience the brick oven, After a long day traveling we were all happy.More
This used to be one of our favorite restaurants in Montreal because of the escargot pizza. It has really gone downhill. Very expensive for what you get and just OK food. The salads were pitiful. We have taken it off our list.
The food here is delicious. Our waiter was really lovely and special to us. Treated us like we were part of the family. They offered a great menu, really authentic. I had the Chicken Parmigiana, the best one I've ever had. You could taste how...fresh the ingredients were. If I'm ever back in Montreal this will be the first place I will visit. Bravo!More
