It's a bar, it's a cafe, it's a pub, and it's a restaurant, too. Else's is a unique place with very friendly staff, an eclectic pub menu with lots of drinking options. Interesting decor and the tables are easily configurable if you are part of a group that all want to sit together. Veg options on the menu is a... More

enter the place and enjoy the incredibly relax and welcoming atmosphere. You can feel liked home. The staff and owner is nice and welcoming. The choice of beer is great and the scotch menu is fantastic. I cannot spend a week without going there.

I posted a review of Else's the first time I visited Montreal, but it was only 4 stars. Now that I have returned SEVERAL times, I just gotta tack on that extra one. This place rules. If you are into local, divey places with colorful locals and super friendly staff, then give it a shot. Every time I visit I... More

I loved the decor in this place, right down to the scary clown images on the table. The drinks are well made. My friends and I shared a quesadilla just to satisfy the food requirement, which the server was completely cool with.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a relaxing and low key dinner and we found it. The shrimp tacos and pulled pork sandwiches were very tasty and did not disappoint.

Went here after a concert. Good little divey pub with food service (I believe ordering food is mandatory but don't worry it's not pricey - it's a licensing thing). We ordered beer - good selection - and I ordered butter chicken. The butter chicken was just OK to be honest. My wife ordered the shrimp tacos and they were excellent!... More

Found this restaurant by accident. it is more of a bar that serves food. The menu is not extensive, but what they do serve is great. Terrific music played and everyone really friendly.

My wife, friend and I had lunch at Else's yesterday while touring the plateau region of Montreal. Very hip, European-style café. Had lunch and soft drinks. Food was very good and the prices are very reasonable. My friend and I had the shrimp tacos and my wife had the polenta with goat cheese. Both dishes were very good and ample... More

Well, this Pub is special, you could think kind of shabby, but then you discover that everything is perfect as it is. I had a delicious Chilli con carne and i saw a lot of mininurgers when they were delivered and they looked fantastic. The choice of beers is great, not too big but well balanced! I can just recommend... More

I was recommended this pub for a pint and some decent food - and I have to say my friend completely mis-sold how brilliant this place is. The pub has a wonderful atmosphere - everything is just spot on: Lovely location, the decor inside is slightly quirky whist feeling very cozy, the staff were friendly as were the other patrons.... Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
