The place had a nice vibe to it. The food was good. We had the Beef Tartar and Escargots for the appetizer. The flank steak was delicious as well as the 701 Burger. The duck was also good.Overall we had a nice experience.

Maitre D quite unbearable. An over $200 order for 2 with a 15 minutes service was deemed unacceptable. Bring an effing drink and appetizer. Sorry never went back. Perfect decor and loved the fireplac!

Visited Montreal and was looking for an authentic meal with a French vibe and great food to take the family for our "big" dinner out. Brasserie 701 did not disappoint. Awesome old French building and decor with a lively atmosphere and terrific food. Steak Frites...was done perfectly and their 3 course menu for $29 was outstanding value. Extensive wine list with lots of options. I will be back for sure and this venue is great for a casual business outing or date night.More

Amid the graduated COVID re-opening, my partner and I could not wait to take a quick get-away to Montreal this summer. We love to go there and experience what's new and delicious. At the recommendation of my spouse's squash partner - Dan Craig, Executive Chef...at the Westin Harbour Castle Toronto, we booked brunch at Brasserie 701 - located in the Place D'Armes Hotel. We were so impressed. The amazing and varied menu curated by Chef Greg included traditional French dishes such as a Provencale Tartine and some elevated Quebecois standards such as Smoked Salmon Bagel and the mind-blowing Poutine 701. We were also in for treat that day, as Chef Greg happened to make his specialty - Pate en Croute - pork, chicken and foie gras soaked in a traditional Calvados and wrapped in the finest, buttery-est, flaky pastry. Our server Jessica was outstanding and welcomed us to the bottomless Mimosa with freshly squeezed Orange, Grapefruit or Pineapple juice. She was attentive, yet not intrusive, as well as knowledgable about the restaurant and hotel - just what a getaway to chase the COVID Blues ordered. We can't wait too go back!! Thank you Chef Greg, Jessica and your entire team for your hospitality.More

We’ve been to Brasserie 701 for breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was excellent, everything super fresh and tasty and the server very friendly. Average prices. The dinner was good, but nothing special, we expected a little more. The server was a very cold person, borderline...rude and the drinks were very, very expensive!More

My wife & I do reports for restaurants and hotels. It was our first visit tonight and we were delighted!!! The salmon tartare, the ice melon soup and the tomato feuilleté were delicious. Our main courses were also really good!!! (Mahi mahi and bavette) The...vanilla creme brûlée ended our evening with a sweet touch but not over sugary. This french brasserie is really awesome and the chef obviously is a big part of this culinary journey! We highly recommend Brasserie 701 and next time we will try their outstanding new terasse. Tonight was rainy in Montreal ;)More

We went for the Happening Gourmand event. This restaurant was beautifully decorated and had a nice atmosphere. The food was amazing as was the service by Julian. We got to discover a great Pimm’s cocktail and Julian took the time to describe what it was...and we were not disappointed. We will definitely be going back.More

Thoroughly enjoyed the attentive and engaging service from Julien (our server) and Andy (the manager). I liked the relaxing ambience of the beautiful dining room with its high vaulted ceilings and decadent decor. The food was delicious: charcuterie board, foie gras torchon, and Québec cheese...plate - perfectly shared by my girlfriend and I. The cocktails and wine were great!! Definately recommend the Hendricks dirty martinis and the Amarone red wine! A great evening out in Old Montréal!More
