Every 2 years we come to Montreal and pray this little secret is still open. Always, the smoked meat sandwich and poutine. I once had the vegetable soup. The food here is outstanding! Please go and support this amazing retro original diner.

Smoked meat and fries in Rosemont!!!! The sandwichs rock and everything in a low-key, Tarantino style place!!!!

A friend recommended the place and I am glad I went. The place is simple, the ambiance is simple in a quiet sort of way, and the smoked meat sandwiches, fries and pickles are really tasty and fresh. Some good food that does not beak the bank either. My next time in Montreal, I will probably return for a second.

It's a very traditional restaurant, wether for meals, décorations, waitresses,...ect. service is very good and friendly, meals are huge and good. when you enter the restaurant, you have an impression of being back in time...-:) You need to like meat a lot to eat there...plates are huge!

My friend loves smoked meat and really wanted to come here. She seemed quite happy with her meal, a smoked meat sandwich. I cannot say that I am a huge smoked meat fan - I had the combination of all dressed pizza with poutine. The pizza was really good (I am pretty sure it had smoked meat on it, quite... More

Quick bite while shopping . smoked meat sandwich with pickles, fries and coleslaw. Was disappointed place is dated, food is average, very average. Fries were barely cooked and still white. Smoked meat was bland and wet. Will not go back, sorry but for me le roi est mort.

The smoked meat at Le Roi is as good as Reuben's and better than at Schwartz's. The service is always friendly. A great place to stop for lunch when you're shopping on Plaza St Hubert. We just keep going back.

I know smoked meat is a personal thing.... for me this is my favourite place to indulge.... I always get the lean king sandwich with fries .... The meat is always moist flavourful and good and the fries are crispy and light.... the rest of my extended family always look in disbelief after i am finished and they still have... More

Our server was extremely friendly and polite and the restaurant has a nice old diner feel to it. The food though, was a bit greasy. It tasted pretty good however. I'm not condemning the place by any means. Try it for yourself and be your own judge.

This would be be about what I would think would hit the spot after a night on the town. Oily yet crispy fries, a greasy medium smoked meat sandwich. Very tender. I'd be thinking average food, as others have been better. Price can't be beat though - 13$ for supper- fries, a vinegar-based coleslaw, and the smoked meat sandwich included.

Thank S J

Neighborhood Profile
Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie
Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie has one of Canada's most prominent Italian communities, with Little Italy concentrated along the convivial bends of Saint-Lawrence Boulevard. Known for its fantastic bars and authentic Italian fare, the domain includes the Jean-Talon Market, the largest public market in North America. Open year-round, sunny months see fruit and vegetable stalls set up outside the main chalet, while blustery weather draws crowds indoors to meat and cheese sellers, spices and truffles stalls, and for regional delicacies such as rare Charlevoix lamb. While the market dictates what's fresh for local restaurateurs, visitors can please more than their palates, taking in the Renaissance architecture and frescos of Madonna della Difesa, the picturesque Rue Saint-Rominique with its cheerful homes and splendid gardens, or the ornamented thoroughfare of Plaza Saint-Hubert.
