My children and I come to Montreal several times a year (for swim meets and camps). When we come for swim meets, we always stay in Centerville and Restaurant Da Giovanni is our food line after 9:30pm. What we like about the restaurant are (a) consistency of its pasta dishes and (b) fast and friendly service when the kids are... More

Been going to Da Giovani from more than 20 years ... Meat sauce turning into water sauce ... WHERE'S THE MEAT? Our last counter orders have not been the same since the last year. Come in guys, don't let your reputation die... You used to be an icon!

I went there a couple times for dinner and it is a good option for pizza or pasta. The price is reasonable and the staff is nice. There is a funny combination of spaghetti and pizza in the same dish...

Nothing too special about this restaurant. The service was good but the food was just average. The spaghetti sauce tasted like it was from a can or jar that you but from the grocery store. The meatballs were a little better which made the dish average overall.

As a youth I spent many late nights here. I went back during a recent stopover and was not disapointed with the memories but the food was not great. First, I want to say that the service was exceptional and very friendly. The waitress was clearly experienced and was great at anticipating what my needs would be and asking the... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
