It felt a little pretentious and the food didn't quite back it up. Don't get me wrong, it was a good steak but nothing to write home about. What irked me most was the service. The waitress was decently nice but also very slow and didn't remember to bring bread or water. The host gave us a hard time about... More

I had dinner during the weekday with a colleague from work. The overall atmosphere and ambience were very nice and there was a live band played. They were not so loud that it distracted from the normal dinner conversation. We both ordered the Filet Mignon and were disappointed with the over al cut and quality of the meet and both... More

My husband and I stopped into this restaurant on a quiet night for drinks and dinner. We had a drink at the bar as we like to do before being seated for our meal. As we were having our drinks, the bartender (name unknown, but he had a little "man-bun"), continually blew and wiped his nose. Maybe a cold, who... More

Ate here after a long day of walking. The poutine with the braised pork on top was delicious - a must try!

Reserved for a corporate happy hour. Called in advance for over 20 ppl. ended up letting them know that we would release the table because we were more comfy at the bar. Ended up being over 20, bar tab was over 2K. Mgr felt the need to tut tut me about reserving the table. It's ok, since i'm responsible for... More

Really enjoyed our dinner here. Warm, fun vibe to the place. Great service. Drinks made to perfection. And, I could live for a month on their mashed potatoes and gorgonzola sauce. Even the side of mushrooms had style and amazing flavor. Lots of folks on dates here. Smiles all around.

This is a very high end kind of sports bar! Excellent music, fabulous burgers and good beer. We sat at the bar and watched the baseball whilst wolfing down giant portions of calamari, shrimp, burgers and fries. We could have shared because there was so much food! Service was slow because they were packed full but very friendly. The bill... More

Wonderful service. Relaxed. Ordered the beet and goat cheese salad and added grilled chicken. So yummy that my friend and I are talking about getting it again for lunch while we are still here. It was a perfect evening meal after checking into our nearby (springhill Marriott) hotel.

Someone from our group recommended this place. I found the music too loud and the service very slow. You could smell the smoke from those standing in front of the restaurant inside. The food was okay, not that great in my opinion. It's not a place that I would consider coming back to. Our group ordered the mini burgers, snow... More

Description
AAA Angus Beef, a delicious raw bar, colorful cocktails, live music and the best burger in town-Mechant Boeuf delivers on all fronts. A 5a7 fixture, this Old Montreal hub adds a pinch of outlandishness to modern pub sensibilities. It's a fresh spin on post-work unwinding and late-night bites. Montreal's mischievous side never tasted so good!

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
