It was a great little tight spot that can do takeout and sit in for its limited seats. We chose to sit in at the bar after 20 min of waiting and could see the cooks prepare our food. We got the special luc with a poutine and salad combo along with a Brazilian hot dog. They were both super... More

This Casse-Croute has been around for about 20 years. The last time I have visited this comfort food establishment, was about 15 years ago. I remembered it being good, but today it was great!!! I would bet this is about as good as it gets for a POUTINE. I had the Patatine which is an averaged size POUTINE with fresh mushrooms,onion,... More

This was the first place I ever had poutine. It was recommended by a native for good reason. The host was very very nice, especially after we explained that it was our first time. Highly recommend!

I guess poutine it's just not my thing, as I clearly fail in seeing the genius behind this dish (can we even consider it so?). Anyway, I haven't really been impressed, the frites were almost charred, and the gravy way too runny and not really flavourful. The premises are, let's say, cozy. The portion is also far from large. All... More

We went on a food tour the first day and were recommended by our guide to go here for some traditional excellent poutine. They did not disappoint !!!! We had poutine a few other places but nothing beat this one. The perfect crispy fried with gravy and cheese they were amazing. Definitely stop by if you are In town!

La Banquise may have variety, but Patiti Patata sticks to its guns and takes the crown for my favorite poutine in Montreal. Poutine isn't all they have -- hot dogs (a little too bready for me) and hamburgers also line the menu -- but poutine is what you'll want to order. A single olive tops the creation, and it is... On Vacation in Canada from Texas. On our second day we were walking up St' Laurent street looking for breakfast place, Along the walk and nice older gentleman greeted us and we struck up a small conversation. As we were about to leave we asked him for breakfast recommendations. He gave us a few but we could see that he... More

I just don't get what the big deal is. The poutine was so so. The fries were too thin for my liking. I like big juicy fries. The hot dog Montegnac or whatever it's called was ok, but not spectacular.

Excellent service. Average poutine. Good coffee. I'll go again on another trip. Don't know if the guy was the owner, but he did everything he could to please us.

We asked our tour guide where the best poutine in the city was and he recommended here. He warned us it was very small so we knew what to expect. Was worth the wait to sit and enjoy the delicious poutine, burgers and grilled cheese. Cold beer, excellent hosts and delicious food, doesn't get better than that!

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
