A small store that just sells bagels. Long queue and slow service. But you can watch the old ovens and the hand made workings. No tables, some sandwiches and a rivalry for notoriety with that other bagel place. Montreal under-chic if you have the time. Bagels good but not "fantastic."

We went to both St-Viateur and Fairmont. We compared a fresh, hot sesame bagel from each with nothing on them. (They were so delicious they really didn't need anything while nice and hot and fresh like that.) I preferred St-Viateur's texture. A little firmer and a bit rougher shape. Fairmont was good, but just seemed to lack something. Fairmont has... More

It's been about 5 yrs since I last had a Fairmount Bagel, so I definitely planned on picking some up this weekend. These bagels are nothing like what you'll get from Tim Hortons, they are hand rolled and soaked in sweetened water and thrown into a wood-fired oven. I just finished my last Fairmount bagel this morning :( I wish... More

This place is so unique and it's defiantly something you have to hit if you come to Montreal. The bagels are all homemade and they are DELICIOUS! Bagels cover every inch of the wall and they are made so fast. There is such a variety and each one has a great, fresh flavor that you cannot get anywhere else. They... More

Never leave Montreal without trying these wood-oven baked jems!! The place is open 24 hrs and open to the public. Once you've had one of these bagels hot from the oven, it's hard to go back to the store bought variety. The sesame bagels are most popular, however other options are also wonderful. When I have the opportunity, I buy... More

Ordered 2 everything bagels with cream cheese. They do not toast bagels. Bagels were hard and crinkled. Tasted like an old bagel. Nothing like my Brooklyn's Bagels in the Villages, FL

This was one of our "To go" stops as per the internet and we were not disappointed at all. The bagels were still hot. They are delicious and defiantly worth the drive if you are in Montreal. Staff are super friendly

Go with either the classic sesame or poppy seed... or go for the all dressed. If you're crazy hungry, get the Bozo (hint: it's bigger). Liberté cream cheese is a must... and grab some lox if you're feeling it (there's a bunch to choose from). The line can get a little long on the weekends, but it moves pretty quickly.... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
