We had been searching for vegetarian options in Montreal and came across this great little place in the neighbourhood where we were staying - McGill university. We couldn't get in the first night ( Sunday) and it was also busy on the Monday night when we did visit - we recommend making a reservation if possible because this place is... More

Everything about this spot was dope. The service was on point and he food matched. The atmosphere is perfect. It's one of those local spots you see on the food network and drool over, wishing you could visit right away.

In the heart of McGill university, very close to the happening areas of Montreal , lies this little gem of a restaurant. Can try any dish on their menu, but love their nachos. A must go if in Montreal specially if you are a vegetarian.

The best veggie burger ever. Located next to a college. It was very crowded but worth the wait. You get chick peas and a side salad with the veggie burger. For only 12.00

Had the soup of the day (some curry, coconut something, something, creamy soup - exactly as described by the waitress) and the chili. The mystery soup was delicious. Calling the main dish a chili was an over-statement. After the waitress asked his I liked my meal, I answered honestly. She admitted that their chili was "in development." Adjustment they will... So glad I logged into Trip Advisor to check on recommendations. Lola Rosa is kinda close to where we are staying. We decided to give it a shot. It clearly is a popular place, with waiting time being anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes. But we'd read reviews and by then had made up our minds to have Mexican food.... More

My daughter and I had the wonderful experience of eating lunch at Cafe Lola Rosa after a campus tour of McGill. While the restaurant itself is small and the seating places you in close proximity to your neighbours- the food and vibe of the restaurant more than make up for it. Don't come here if you are in a hurry,... More

Found this place by looking for highly-rated mexican restaurants on Trip Advisor. It's definitely tucked away in a little University neighborhood, but is a quick 5 or so block walk from the subway. While we were a bit disappointed at first that it wasn't the type of Mexican restaurant we had been looking for (refried beans, fajitas, and margaritas), we... More

Very nice choices of food. Good location in McGill University's area. Perfect after a film at Cinema du Park. Enjoyed every dish we had around the table. Service was perfect. Too bad they decided to close earlier on a Saturday night (strange !!)

We were really excited to try all the vegan options offered on the menu and this place did not disappoint. The restaurant is fairly small and quaint, The tables are a beautiful wood - and the inside is a bit rustique feeling. Service is wonderful and bilingual. We got the Ragou and the vegan nachos - the nachos were MASSIVE.... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
