Good food, tight seating

Food was very good and the service too. However we went on a Thursday night when the restaurant was very busy, and with the tight seating arrangement I felt I was eavesdropping on conversations around me.

Loved this place ... I mean really loved the food, staff and charm of the place. Was recommended the Hempburger and it didn't disappoint. One of the very best vegetarian burgers I have had anywhere. This place is a must visit for a vegetarian in Montreal and will be back at the next opportunity.

Most options at this restaurant are vegetarian-- and interesting vegetarian at that, not just basic pasta or rice dishes. I had the hemp burger, good, which was served with a small salad (with great shredded beets) and a chickpea dish. Beware, though, that if they ask you if you want avocado, it is $1.50 extra! I was not aware of... More

This restaurant has a warm and cosy ambiance. Plus, the vegan dishes we got were tasteful and very generous. That being said, the desert was very dried (the moka cake) and the drinks were average. Overall, good cheap option!

Lola Rosa is near Montreal university and is a thriving uni student hangout. Warranted though, generous portions of tasty food for good value. Its also vegetarian but would satisfy any carnivore. It was full early on a Wednesday evening do helps to make a booking. Small but reasonable beer/wine list. Great desserts. Pictured here cheesecake in a jar.

Had a delicious supper chosen from a wide variety of vegetarian options. Lots of students but us older folk felt quite at home too!

Just a few of us over 50s in the place, but the youth vibe is very friendly. There's no atmosphere of self-righteousness or aren't-we-superior, probably because there's no suffering here -- it's all comfort food. Good craft beer selection, but that was about it for featuring local, as far as I could see. The selections run the gamut of French,... More

We've eaten at Lola Rosa twice, during two separate trips to Montreal. The atmosphere is beyond casual, with servers dashing between kitchen and tables, lineups at the cash, and loud, animated conversations happening at every table. This is a youth-centric McGill hangout located on a side street adjacent to the campus, and it's always busy. Reserve a table or you'll... More

Let us start with the positives, nice food .. Feels like home made ... Nice friendly service ... Reasonable prices suites the surrounding students environment and the relatively simple decoration ... So, surely a positively different expereince ... But watch for the noise because the space is small, also, watch for the waiting list in weekends and off days ..... More

I've been to Lola Rosa a number of times and am always adequately pleased. I find that the food is outstanding (especially as it is mostly vegan), but the portions tend to be small. I always leave hungry, which is never a good thing! If you're prepared to order two dishes, then you'll be fine though! I usually order the... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
