About
Duc de Lorraine, open since 1952, is Montreal's oldest French pastry shop. From our critically acclaimed buttery croissants, to our traditional fine pastries, we have maintained our original recipes from our great chefs over the years. In addition to our fine pastries, we are well known for our brunch, and traditional French bistro specialities. From our restaurant windows, and in warmer months our patios the view is beautiful of St Joseph Oratory. We are open every day of the year from 6:30 AM to 10:00 PM

I took my 90 year old mom out for lunch today, and chose this restaurant as a special treat. 40 minutes after taking our order, the waiter still didn't know what happened to our food. After 50 minutes, we were informed the kitchen never received...it due to a computer glitch. We finally got up to leave after 60 minutes, when the waiter met us at the exit with our salads. They got the order wrong (chicken caesar salad full of dressing, when I ordered without dressing). They gave us 10% off and some macarons. I had to pay $18. for a piece of dried out grilled chicken, and I couldn't even eat the salad that came with it. Very disappointed in this restaurant and you can be sure I will NEVER go there again.More

Normally I would give this wonderful European style bistro 5 stars. The setting , a sun protected open and safe tent , was perfect; as was the mask wearing staff. But two cafe au laits , , an amandine pastry , a very dry baguette..$32!!!...And $2 for 2cc’s of jam? This was totally over the top pricing. Maybe it’s the plexiglass panel separation and so on, so tell your clients. But for that ridiculous price there are other choices...More

In my mind, they are few restaurants or Bistros in Montreal that meet the high standards of this establishment. This Bistro / pastry store is in a class by itself. From entering the establsihment, sitting at a table or buying pastries, it's hard to get...service better than this. There is a beautifull terrace that wraps around the bistro and the view of the St Joseph Oratory is breathtaking. The owner is there hands on, and the staff are excellent. You can sit inside and your view is also wonderful, with the exterior wall being all windows! Try the food. the wines, coffees, pastries etc., it's all delicious! You will enjoy!More

Went 1 week after San Valentines and bought a cake for $60 very nicely decorated. Came home to eat it to realized it was old merchandise from probably a week earlier. On top, when you choose merchandise at the counter the prices are misleading. My...cake had a price tag of $37 sitting right in from of it but a had the surprise it was $60 at the cashier! Never going back again!!More

Montreal is known for wonderful French pastries and we found the best. All of their delights are baked on the premises with rich butter and fresh ingredients. It is a little expensive but once you take a bite you will understand. The napoleons are the...best I have ever eaten and the croissants are flakey tender morsels all by themselves. Warning: choices are difficult and you will be spoiled.More

Duc de Lorraine fell extremely short of what would be considered remotely appropriate level of customer service. Croissants which were ordered on September 8th, were supposed to be ready to be sent to Florida, to arrive in time to be a Christmas present. The shipment...was in transit from December 19th, and they were finally delivered today, January 2nd in the afternoon! The croissants amande were at one time individually wrapped in wax paper, but not this time. Consequently, they were pulverized, and the almond paste caused the flaky pastry to form a raw dough ball. Gross! The chocolatine were dried out as well, as were the regular croissants! The entire shipment needs to be trashed, as it is inedible! A deplorable waste of my money, and an outcome which has sunken the reputation of what at one time was a patisserie of great reknown! Despite several attempts and an enormous amount of patience on my part to communicate with the manager and proprietor, I have reached the end of my rope. It is time to go viral!More
