The name means hunt and fish and this lovely spot just a few short blocks from Place Saint Jaques focuses on creative cuisine that is very satisfying and unique. I had a sublime Piglet risotto that had a feeling of deep dark woods and wild mushrooms followed by a brilliant pheasant breast served with pheasant sausage. It was spectacular. My... More

This was just amazing! The ambiance is lovely, pleasant, quiet enough. The service great. The food outstanding! The menu made it so hard to select---all sounded so good. We loved every plate we had. We'd go back next time without hesitation. It is expensive, but worth it.

From walking in we were treated to polite, friendly people and service. The menu is varied and several delicious choices looked intriguing. Making choices was a challenge...we shared a salad, and I enjoyed Duck and my husband the Salmon! We also, shared a dessert. All of this combined with a bottle of wine from the Cahors region made for a wonderful... More

This restaurant is a place where eating is an experience best enjoyed at a casual pace to take in the ambience, faultless cuisine and very discrete well seasoned waiters who know when to approach the table and when to leave you alone in a conversation. It is for people expecting a great meal experience and getting one. Not inexpensive, but... More

Great resto.. Service was very good.. Great suggestions.. It's one of the only places I find that is worth the money even if it's more expensive.. Not overpriced for no reason.. Will go again!

This is one of the classics in old Montréal. If you are looking for game meats and similar, one of the best in the city. This is definitely the place for well designed and prepared Québec comfort food. Attentive classic service. Very good wine list. Make sure you are hungry when you go.

Table for 2 dinner in Montreal on a Saturday night. We had the signature dish (Lobster and Steak) as well as the Halibut. I often say "my expectations rise along with the price of the food". The food was very good - not GREAT- but very good. The atmosphere appeared a bit dated but was nice and comfortable. The waiter... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
