Wonderful place in Old Port Montreal with a fantastically diverse menu, impeccable wait staff, and lovely atmosphere. We chose the six-course tasting menu to sample a little bit of everything. Fantastique! Was not disappointed in one bite of any of the variety we shared. Only downside was we were seated next to a very loud table of four in a... More

Found this restaurant from trip advisor as it was highly rated. The restaurant is really beautiful, service efficient and the food was excellent. Although the price may be perceived to be on the high side, it is very reasonable for the type of restaurant. No regrets whatsoever.

My four colleagues and I enjoyed the tasting menu of classic French cuisine. Every part of the six course was amazing. Starting with the lobster bisque that was tasty to the mushroom ravioli that was sweet with an earthy taste to the perfectly cooked lamb to the dessert combination of creme brûlée and four mini cakes, the meal was amazing.... Recently we dined at Bonaparte restaurant in Montreal. I selected this restaurant based on the reviews it had received previously, and I can add more high praise. We ordered the tasting menu, and everything was just delicious. My husband and I chose different dishes so that we could try a variety of things, and we were not disappointed. One of... More

Very very nice restaurant. I would reccomend this place to everyone! Great food and wine selection - very professionals waiters and good atmosphere. Not too much expensive but above the average.

We went to Bonaparte with high expectations on the last day of our visit to Montreal expecting it to be the highlight of our stay but were quite disappointed. We had a reservation for 9 pm but had to wait at the bar for our table for some length. The food was of average quality and the service was ok.... More

First visited as a business dinner, enjoyed the atmosphere, amazingly great steak Diana that was as tender as one could every image, great taste and the foie gras starter was delectable. Visited a few day days later solo and enjoyed another great meal at the bar. Staff were very attentive, suggestions of accompanying wines perfect. I would say that Bonaparte... More

Came here for dinner last night with my husband. Food and wine all great except for our waiter who was obviously busy and keep forgetting to pour our wine and take away my plate! I was relax about it and pour our own wine. When he saw that he gave me a funny stern look and pick up the wine... More

We have dined at Bonaparte at least 25 times over the years. Amazingly, every meal was perfection and the service is always flawless. When going to Centaur Theatre, which is just down the street, we make it a point to always eat at Bonaparte. If you don't want to spend a lot of money, go early for the "Theatre Special":... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
