You can find good restaurants around every corner in Montreal but I have a favorite and its Bonaparte. The service and food is outstanding and just a nice place to go. I don't like reviews that give a rating of 5 unless it deserves it and this one does. I could go on about it but you need to make... More

My husband and I booked our anniversary dinner here and the staff made it extra special. The street is under construction but that hasn't stopped business. We made a reservation as we would not have got in without it. The food was delicious, and pricing reasonable. We had the tasting menu and everything was perfect except for the lobster bisque.... We were in Montreal for two nights and went to Bonaparte's on the recommendation of friends who had visited the city in July. After looking at three menu options for dinner, we decided to try the tasting menu. At $78 Canadian, a comparable tasting menu in NYC would be easily twice the price. We were not disappointed in the least.... More

The first floor of a boutique hotel in Old Montreal with lovely ambience. Excellent service, nice choice of wines, really interesting and delicious food, and all delivered at an unbelievable price. The table d'hote menu was only $37 which is currently a bit under $30 American. If I could have given it six stars for value I would have. Not... More

A wonderful dining experience. Diverse menu. I had the seared tuna, my wife the Lobster house specialty. All perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. Extensive wine list. Enjoyable and relaxed setting. Service impeccable. The only derog-- that the timing between courses a bit slow. Probably due a large party dining at the same time. Good value.

This restaurant is old-school French, but nothing about it is stuffy or intimidating in any way. We split three appetizers and a main course and the restaurant split the appetizers for us. Then we had a souffle even though we didn't order it three days before; it took about ten minutes. Wonderful food, wonderful ambience, wonderful service.

We invited some colleagues whom we visited on our trip to Montreal to join us for dinner here. We all ordered the tasting menu and for the most part, chose different dishes from the selection offered for each course. All of the food was incredible. The presentation was beautiful and the taste of the food was as elegant as the... More

A bit pricey but the tasting menu was very nice and excellent service. Were eating for almost two and a half hours and comfortably stuffed by end of meal.

We stayed in the hotel and dined at the restaurant several years ago and tremendously enjoyed both. The food and service are still wonderful, but unfortunately the street immediately outside was undergoing major renovation during our visit, and the kitchen had run out of its signature veal chop early in the evening. Otherwise, this would have been another Excellent review.

Nestled in Old Montreal, It's a beautiful Hotel and Restaurant with great service and amazing food. The lobster salad was absolutely perfect light and delicious. Followed by perfectly cooked beef and vegetables with light and perfectly refreshing Pinot Grigio to compliment the excellent meal. Sadly, too full for dessert but an perfect excuse to head back soon.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
