Even though we arrived on a cold night without a reservation we were welcomed warmly and a table was set up for us while we enjoyed the piano music. I grew up in Pittsburgh so am not a stranger to Polish food and was pleasantly surprised by the freshness and quality. The pierogi's and homemade sauerkraut are worth the visit.... More

Being from Hamtramck Michigan I am more than familiar with Polish culture and cuisine, and by far this place was better than any I've ever had It is delightfully charming, incredibly clean, quaint location in old town Montreal Service is awesome, food is fresh my wife and I had the sampler plate which included and delightful apple cobbler for dessert... I loved this place! I was born in Canada with a French/Polish background so this café is the epitome of my heritage! The décor was lovely, warm, and classy. The building itself was very interesting. The menu was in French, English, and polish. All wait staff spoke the 3 languages as well. They were very helpful with the menu. The... More

Amazing experience and so glad we found this gem. This is the type of restaurant you would expect to find in Poland or Germany, not Montreal. We tried Potato Pancakes and Pierogis as an appetizer and they were fantastic. Two shared the sausages and another plate while I had the veal schnitzel. Everything was authentic tasting and cooked to perfection.... More

Never had Polish food before, so I tried the staple dishes out. My counterparts had these potato pancake things that were on a non-stop train to our mouths! If every Polish resto is even half as good as this place I'm in!

This is a small, family-run restaurant in the heart of Old Town Montreal. It features some of the best Polish food that we have experienced. Very pleasant atmosphere and very knowledgeable staff. We will definitely eat here again on our next trip to Montreal.

Stash has a lot going for it. First the ambiance is top notch. Eclectic posters from Poland stirred arguments amongst my family about possible meanings and significance. The staff told us they were short one server, and yet they were quite accommodating. This was impressive. The food was great and uniquely polish in a French city. The herring was great.... More

We enjoyed a couple of appetizers here on a very cold night. It was lively and warm. The food is filling and comforting. There was a sweet pianist playing as we entered and it felt like a local crowd..snug warm and friendly.

Absolutely love this place. The food is excellent and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I always get the combination plate and struggle to choose between the herring or rye soup as my starters. The little cobbler for dessert is always just the right amount and never too sweet.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
