I guess it's a must place if you're visiting Montreal. Smoked meat is delicious, Service is average but quick & The look is vantage and original. Be ready for some lineup waiting though.

It's genuine. The waiters are almost too nice. The smoked meat is wonderful. It's great to look at the pictures of the famous people who have visited this place as you chow down. We were there on a Wednesday in February and there was a line-up to get in. This might be emperor's clothes territory but... it's just a smoked... More

Love it, was tasty, but could be cheaper. You have cash and credit card options to pay, but less service in the credit card section. Dont forget to give a tip , they will be mad to see you dont pay a tip😎

We had a short queue so didn't wait too long maybe 20 mins to get inside and this is a busy place with friendly staff. we managed to sit with another couple at our table and ordered the plate of smoked meat with fries and a pickle. I decided on medium fat and that was a great choice the flavor... More

No frills. Authentic. Excellent, 'out-of-this-world' and top quality smoke-meat! Must try for anyone visiting Montreal.

Overall I'm glad I went to Schwartz's but I'm not sure if it was worth the hype. Don't get me wrong, the food was good and the staff was friendly but the smoked meat sandwich wasn't life changing.

What can I say about Schwartz's? The smoked meat is legendary. Juicy, savoury, and it melts in your mouth. And they have half-sour pickles. Service was friendly and fast (even though you hear mixed reviews on that). Go later in the evening to avoid lines, which are 200 people deep during holidays.

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
