Meat is gloriously tasty! The slightly fatty meat was so tender and juicy! Best meat I've ever had. (And I've been to Sam Lagrassa's in Boston and Katz's in New York. So I've got some delicious comparisons.) It was just two of us, so we got in fairly quick. They have their serving staff check the line. Redirecting take-out orders... More

The meats not as good as it once was, found the meat stringy and baseless. Fries were excellent, service as usual quite rude and the price seems very higher what it is. Since the takeover by a corporation it is not worth the trip. There are several other delis that have maintained their quality and reasonable prices. Parking is a... More

Their smoke méat sandwich is as good as any in Montreal. You can be in and out very quickly. Their serve staff are all veterans, and really know their product and how to "get it done". At peak times you will likely find a line-up, well worth the wait. You might well be placed with folks from a different city/country... More

The food is amazing I just wish I could get in. I am glad I was with someone able bodied and the weather was nice as this place is not a wheelchair friendly destination

We waited in line for what we were told is a Montreal institution. The service was good and food was ok but my expectations were much higher after reading about this place. Good food and prices. Nothing really blew me away though.

People line up for a meal at Schwartz's. We waited and ordered the smoked meat sandwich with slaw. The sandwich and slaw were good but nothing out of the ordinary. Wait staff is fast and friendly. Table sharing the way its done in this diner to keep the line moving. This is an institution in Montreal, thus the long wait... More

Excellent smoked meat joint...famous. I suggest to go to the "To Go" side and get your sandwich to take to a park. The poutine with smoked meat was to die for!

Enjoyed the sandwich way more than expected! Smoked meat was so delicious, especially with the availability of many toppings. I had a sandwich without toppings, and it was heavenly. Some of my friends also ordered some special cherry pop. The lines are long for a reason, but you must wait and later enjoy the meal!

There are tourist magnet restaurants in every great city, and many of them are living on long-ago reputations. Schwartz' on the other hand, lives up to its billing every time. Moist, exquisitely smoked beef piled high on rye...pickles...fries...a soda... It's crowded. The service is friendly and quick (nobody has to explain today's specials). Well-priced. Definitely worth it.

Thank Rafael S

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
