Santropol, its sandwiches (loved the signature triple-decker) and lovely garden and friendly service is deservedly popular. But when a neighbourhood café becomes a known destination one has to be smart - and be a bit sorry for the people who live nearby who must get...More

This little cafe does not look like much from street but then you walk in, turn a corner and see the beautiful garden/terrace area with lots of tables set amongst the flowers, trees and strings of party lights. The food was delicious. I had a...More

This is one of the landmark lunch places in Montreal. It's just off of the major tourist areas and still feels very local. The food is fresh and delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. Sandwiches are definitely sharing size. I used to frequent this...More

I visited recently because I wanted to have sandwiches. The cafe offers a great variety of vegetarian, vegan sandwiches too with salads in a beautiful ambiance. I am a tea fan so had moroccon mint tea which tasted great and the quantity was very decent...More

I stop here everytime I am in Montreal. The sandwiches are amazing. Wonderful ambiance. The patio can be crowded at times but I prefer to eat inside. It's so good that people will line up for a table here! Go you won't be disappointed.

This place is delightful - love the quirky decor and will have to go back in summer when the terrace is open. I had the yummiest vegan sandwich on gluten-free bread and a dairy-free London Fog latte... wow very impressed. They have lots of options...More

A real gem, over 40 years in business which is obvious from all the quirky furniture, fittings, art and books. Sandwiches come on the tastiest, thickest, freshest bread. Worth it alone for that. Oh and the carrot cake - even if you're full fins some...More

A word of caution, yes the service is slow. If you are not in a rush, the wait is well worth it. The ambiance encourages conversation, reading, writing so if you are waiting for your meal there's no reason to be "bored". I've been to...More
