Went for lunch on a weekday, good atmosphere. Service was excellent. They have a great wine selection. The meats are top quality and the entrees are decent. Overall great food for the price.

I went with the chef's special. Glad I did! It was excellent. Our waiter Oliver took great care of us and was very pleasant and patient with my French! He even took the time to help me through what I wanted to say. If you do want to try a French restaurant, this is one I recommend.

The food was great as was the service. So attentive and professional. You don't see this caliber often. Atmosphere is what sets this place apart and what will keep us coming back. The only negative: Lobster ravioli portion as the main was a bit on the small side and both people who took it had a similar reaction comment.

It was my husbands birthday while we were here and Holder helped make it extra special. The service was lovely, food outstanding, and they brought him a delightful desert.

Lovely food, drink and atmosphere. We dined for lunch in early May and the staff were very accommodating of us and our 1 year old. There was a mix of couples and business people dinning. The food and drink was very good. We had 2 dishes from the specials menu, including Red Snapper and Veal escalopes on a bed of... More

This restaurant was recommended by the staff at our restaurant (Le Petit Hotel, which I highly recommend) when we asked where the locals ate. The food and service was exemplary, the room itself is very tasteful, and we loved being surrounded by people speaking French. :)

Went there with 3 friends on a Saturday evening. The service was perfect, food was typically France and very very good. Would definitely recommend the restaurant. Good value.

We had all of our favorite French foods here including icy cold oysters and a delicious foie gras. The service is fast, friendly and efficient. The restaurant is a tad noisy, so the restaurants has a more casual than formal dining atmosphere, but overall, very enjoyable!

The menu is good, prices are avg. Super tall ceilings and staff is very good. Anywhere from bday parties to family dinner. Not over fancy even though it looks it. Have nothing bad to say about the place. Ive been twice but that will be it.

A group of 6 of us on a business trip visited Holder on a Friday evening and we did not have reservations. Luckily we were able to get seated and from that point in it was a great experience. The service was friendly and prompt. When we asked our servers opinion on the menu it was given honestly and without... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
