Hands down the best duck confit plate in the city (and I've searched!). Been here several times as a couple, with friends and with two teen boys. Everything on the menu is spectacular. Service is awesome. It can get loud in there during peak hours, it's popular with young adults. Very lively and upbeat. Highly recommend!!

If you don't know this restaurant is in the building you might miss it because there is no large sign on the outside. It was open late and it seems to be a place where the locals go ... We were happy with the food and the service

Enjoyed a very pleasant dinner at Holder, a starter of pan seared foie gras with sweetness and toasted brioche was delicious as suggested by the waitron. The duck confit was perfection, crisp on the outside and melt in the month on the inside. Well done to the chef, thank you it was perfection on the plate. Saw the fish and... More

The atmosphere in this resto is lovely, very open, high ceilings, good space between tables. The food was excellent. I had tilapia and husband had duck. The chocolate mousse was probably the best I've ever had. The service was excellent. Would visit again.

We gap had a good meal with Holder, the service was good and so were the drinks. We needed special attention to the teenagers meal and they accommodated.

I have eaten here several times, and if I were to summarise it in one word, it would be 'noisy'. That said, you may get it on a quieter day, as we did a couple of weeks ago, in which case you can have a sensible conversation. The food is good, though the selection is fairly limited, and they do... More

This is the 2nd time we visited this restaurant. This time the food was still very good, but the service less than par. They have a great menu, a variety of choices that can suit a large number. We had 10 people for dinner and everyone enjoyed their meal. Our waitress took our order and had a number of helpers... More

Food was amazing. Service was amazing. Fish melted in my mouth. Will definitely try this again next time I'm in Montreal. Main course was $26. This place is a real steal.

My husband and I had lunch here and it was wonderful. Food and service were fantastic. The restaurant was very nice, would have gone back for dinner if we were in the city longer. Would definately recommend.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
