A warm cozy inviting steak house where you know from the get go that they really want to take care of you. The rib steak, which is the ribeye with the bone, was one of the best I have ever had. And that includes Peter Lugar's, Wolfgang's, Keen's and etc. perfect amount of marbling and meat in each bite. Damn... More

The last time I was in Montreal was 12 years ago and eating at Moishe's restaurant stayed with me all those years as a great gastronomic experience. Fast forward 12 years and there we were again, sitting at the same table that we sat at all those years ago. Nothing much has changed, the decor is old world American 1920's... More

Not your typical Steak House... Its been around for years and the photo's on the wall proves it. it is a cab ride as its not downtown or in the old port. it's wide open and a little noisey at times but this is why you go to Moishe's along with the food. Ok, other stuff on the menu but... More

Sorry, but not impressed. I expected a lot more from a high priced and long-standing Montreal restaurant. A steak lover may get a special cut of meat here, but if the kitchen can't get the doneness right, it's a lot of money spent for a piece of meat. I guess I won't be going back. Maybe it was the wrong... More

We went here specifically for the after 9pm special, which turned out to be a good choice. The space is very large and decorated appropriately for an historic steak house. We were seated on time, and our waiter(s) were efficient and generally very helpful. Over time, the restaurant filled up very quickly and, as a result, became very noisy. We... More

I give the food 5 stars.. took off one star for the service. I won't name the guy, he was a nice chatty funny fellow, but unfortunately in his chatty hilarious being, he messed up quite a few times, including mistaking a filet order instead of NY strip (which he actually recommended), dropping some food he brought as a make-up... To celebrate a birthday the family chose Moishes. Have not been for awhile, and it was good to be back. The chopped liver brought back happy memories. The fillet mignon was excellent and the sides as well The rest had rib steaks which they picked clean. After dessert and coffee we left contented and satiated. Service was a bit slow... More

This steakhouse has been in this location for many, many years. Known for their Ribsteak. On Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, after 9.00pm, main plates are $25.00 including an entree, coleslaw, pickles, bread and coffee. A side patato dish adds $5.00 to the tab. When busy eg. Thursday night, it is hard to talk as it is very noisy.... More

Great appetizers--chopped liver and vareniky/peirogy to die for. Great ambiance with really attentive service. Steaks; however, are not the best.

There's a reason Forbes Magazine named us one of the Top 10 Steakhouses in the world. And why Moishes has become a Montreal favorite that has endured over 70 years. We think it's the authentic taste of each one of the old world favorites on our menu.

If you're an old friend, welcome back. We're always delighted to see you. We couldn't have come this far without you. If you haven't yet, we warmly invite you to discover the taste for yourself, at our restaurant overlooking historic Saint-Laurent Boulevard (The Main.)

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
