To celebrate a birthday the family chose Moishes. Have not been for awhile, and it was good to be back. The chopped liver brought back happy memories. The fillet mignon was excellent and the sides as well The rest had rib steaks which they picked clean. After dessert and coffee we left contented and satiated. Service was a bit slow... More

This steakhouse has been in this location for many, many years. Known for their Ribsteak. On Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, after 9.00pm, main plates are $25.00 including an entree, coleslaw, pickles, bread and coffee. A side patato dish adds $5.00 to the tab. When busy eg. Thursday night, it is hard to talk as it is very noisy.... More

Great appetizers--chopped liver and vareniky/peirogy to die for. Great ambiance with really attentive service. Steaks; however, are not the best.

i went last night because somebody speak so well about this steakhouse, but i didn't find nothing special, the service was poor and the filet mignon i had was good but not for the price it cost, if you try The Keg Steakhouse it is so much better and cheaper

I went there for a family dinner upon arriving there the staff is super friendly in didn't order any appetizers because I knew it would be a giant steak it was a huge t bone and was perfectly cooked but my grandparents steak was burnt I might give this place another chance but was not impressed.

Yes the steaks are great cooked as ordered and piping hot. But that is only part of the story. When we first were seated we were served pickles and coleslaw both were outstanding. We ordered a chopped liver appetizer with fried onions, amazing. Also on the menu we ordered latkes, tasty. Also not to be missed, the millefeuille for dessert.... More

My family which lives in Montreal brought me to this amazing place to eat. Their Montreal smoked meat is to die for their steaks the ribs everything that I experienced I could not get enough of. Definitely a place to try when you're feeling hungry in Montreal.

At a certain point, high-end steakhouses all have excellent steaks. This one was no exception. What can set them apart from one another is the service, the wines, and the side-dishes. As for service, we were impressed with the their attentiveness and genuine friendliness. The wine was pricey, but had some comparative bargains in the mid-range wines. We had a... More

The large bone-in ribeye is my favorite. Hardly any fat, cooked medium and quite juicy; nice and charred. Better than Peter Luger in NYC; Gibson's and Gene & Georgetti in Chicago; anywhere in Argentina. Potato pancakes with applesauce are my favorite side dish, but I usually have to take them home as the steak itself is so large.

The meat is dry-aged in low temperature and carefully prepared. Quite expensive but well worth it. I liked the way they made the creme brûlée, the best among I have tasted elsewhere. It is a very popular restaurant and with such good business, it is understaffed as we had to wait for attention.

There's a reason Forbes Magazine named us one of the Top 10 Steakhouses in the world. And why Moishes has become a Montreal favorite that has endured over 70 years. We think it's the authentic taste of each one of the old world favorites on our menu.

If you're an old friend, welcome back. We're always delighted to see you. We couldn't have come this far without you. If you haven't yet, we warmly invite you to discover the taste for yourself, at our restaurant overlooking historic Saint-Laurent Boulevard (The Main.)

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
