We went for supper on a Wednesday evening. The place was not at all busy, so the wait staff was very attentive - no waiting for anything. We ordered the rib steaks, with a chopped liver entree, with sides of baked potatoes and monte carlo potatoes. The pickles, coleslaw and bread were all very good. The taste of the food... More

This is a great restaurant. Specialty is their steaks, but any item you choose on the menu is excellent. Side dishes and deserts are also very tasty. Most of the staff has been there for many years and service is very good and they are very attentive to your requests.

My wife and I went to Montreal for few days to check out the dining scene. The hotel concierge told us about Moishe's and how an old establishment it is. We both love steaks so off we went. It is a very large restaurant, and it somewhat reminded me of the way Spark's in NYC is laid out. The steaks... More

We went as this restaurant was recommended by our concierge at our hotel. Wow, from the start we were seated in the far corner and waited 10 minutes for our drink order to be taken. Our waiter was very stern and cold and attended to our table of 8 only when called upon. Once our order was taken for our... More

We went to Moishes based on it's reputation and history as the premier Montreal steakhouse. The Ribsteak I had was very good, but would not be amongst the best I have ever had. The waiter was friendly and professional. A person who I assume was the manager came to our table and in a very adversarial way asked if this... More

I made a reservation for a Friday night. When we arrived, we were asked to wait. It took almost half an hour until they sat us. This was not a good start. Why accept a reservation if you cannot meet the time that it is set at? I can understand a 5-10 minute delay but no more. So we were... More

Been going to this restaurant since 1981 and the food and service are still "at the top" of restaurants in this city. You sit down and they put coleslaw, dill pickles and a basket of bread and rolls down on your table. My wife ordered fish and I ordered a Veal Chop. We ordered two sides, one of mushrooms and... This was my first time at this restaurant. I thought about giving a 5 star rating however there were a few things that bothered me. I came with my 2 adolescent kids and my husband. It was a Sunday night and they had a 45$ menu 3 course meal. You add 10$ if you take the filet mignon and 5$... More

There's a reason Forbes Magazine named us one of the Top 10 Steakhouses in the world. And why Moishes has become a Montreal favorite that has endured over 70 years. We think it's the authentic taste of each one of the old world favorites on our menu.

If you're an old friend, welcome back. We're always delighted to see you. We couldn't have come this far without you. If you haven't yet, we warmly invite you to discover the taste for yourself, at our restaurant overlooking historic Saint-Laurent Boulevard (The Main.)

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
