We had reservations for this restaurant at 8pm. We were 20 mins early but were quickly greeted and seated. The place was full and busy when we arrived. We chose this place in hopes of listening to some jazz music while having our dinner then...More

Looking for a French bistro?. It ends here at the atmosphere. That’s the good part. Food is mediocre at best. Certainly not what you’d expect from a French bistro. Should they know how to make a Caesar salad? One would think so. This one is...More

Thank you for bringing this situation to our attention. Needless to say, the quality of the food we serve to our customers is of the highest importance to us. We are therefore very concerned by the bad experience you had with us. Each issue you...More

Great French cuisine. Good size portions, just enough. Friendly service. Reservation preferred but we were able to get in without one.

Lively and quaint are not normally terms you hear together for a restaurant but Modave in the heart of old town is both. We were fortunate enough to be seated for dinner without a reservation but might be wise to make one if you plan...More

To start the atmosphere and was excellent. Low lights, window seats with large windows for people watching and a really cool horseshoe bar. We just stopped in for a snack and the French Onion soup was amazing!!! Our waitress Josie was wonderful, attentive and full...More

Modavie is a fantastic restaurant. Beautifully decorated, charmingly Montreal yet cozy enough for an intimate dinner for two. Lamb is their specialty, so give it a try. The rack of lamb was delicious, as was the foie gras. Extensive wine list with something for everyone....More

They will not seat a single person at a table before 9pm. I was offered only a seat at the bar but those are rarely comfortable. Kept walking until I was welcomed.More

Hello Judy, thank you for taking the time to review. We sympathize for the disappointment you felt while requesting a table on your last visit at Bistro Modavie. Although we always suggest at first a seat at the bar for single guests, we do offer...More

We reserved a table at Modavie, looking forward to live music. We then discovered that it was also worth going for the food. Our dinner was delicious, and we stayed for the entire performance of Sarah Larendresse -- beautiful voice, accompanied by guitar. Her singing...More

Somehow trip advisor always forwards future customers’ questions to raters rather than the restaurant itself!! Not sure what private dining means. It’s rustic and busy but if you get a window table, it could be romantic.

Rack of lamb is about $40 and it goes down from there. Not cheap, but well worth it.

Description
Seven nights a week, local bands take the stage at Montreal's hottest Jazz bar and bistro. Modavie's spirited setting sets the scene for a night of great tunes, top dining and generous pastis toasting. The bistro's far-reaching wine menu hits just the right notes and helps round off succulent lamb, fish, beef and inspired pasta dishes.
