My wife and I ate dinner recently at Modavie in Old Montreal. From Lorenzo who manages the house to Anastasia our waitress, the evening was superb! My wife had the delicious salmon and I had the outstanding rack of lamb. The service, the food, and the live jazz made for a very memorable evening. Would definitely go back… Keith &... More

visited here as part of a group tour, (14 of us) . Place was well organised & meal was very nice. Our menu was limited but that was a prepaid group thing, not the restaurant & what we had was delicious. Yes I would visit this restaurant again!

Wow! I've traveled in Europe, Scandinavia, South America, Central America , the Caribbean and North America but never have I been more pleased with a restaurant experience. Lorenzo has a great team, great atmosphere, great food, great drinks and great music. Trust me, it doesn't get better.

We decided to eat here based on TripAdvisor reviews. Did not disappoint. Small intimate restaurant with a friendly and efficient staff. Both our meals were good and we were very satisfied, I had the steak frites and my husband had spaghetti with seafood.

We went here on the recommendation of a gal at our hotel because it was a short walk on a rainy day. We both love lamb so we had the simmered lamb sandwich on a baggette, fries (included) and their homemade soup that was excellent. It is a very small place but we felt like we were sitting in a... We had reservations at a different restaurant but switched to the Modavie because they had live music. We couldn't have been more pleased with the food and the service. There were 4 of us, had many different things and all were erected pleased.

Great atmosphere, fantastic staff and really good value for money. We walked in on a Friday night and they managed to find us a table. Our waiter was extremely friendly, and service was efficient. Excellent wine and cocktail selection. Had the French Onion soup to start - I'm not usually a big fan of soup, but that was delicious, worth... More

Unpretentious bistro in old Montreal gives a warm welcome despite being really busy on a rainy night. Out waitress was brilliant, knowledgeable and friendly. She brought us locally sources hors d'oeuvres that were delicious. The main courses didn't disappoint anyone, plates would have been licked clean if we weren't so polite. Canadian wine was great too. Overall a highly recommended... More

Seven nights a week, local bands take the stage at Montreal's hottest Jazz bar and bistro. Modavie's spirited setting sets the scene for a night of great tunes, top dining and generous pastis toasting. The bistro's far-reaching wine menu hits just the right notes and helps round off succulent lamb, fish, beef and inspired pasta dishes.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
