Modavie served the best food and wine I had on my trip to Montreal. I had no reservation which could have been a problem for a Friday night, but the waiter found a nice table on the second floor, close to the live band. The...More

A very busy restaurant. Clearly catering to the masses. Band were quite good, although singing “Happy Birthday” 3 times in the space of 2 hours was tacky and excessive. We went there primarily for the music - we were not expecting fantastic food. But we...More

We were expecting jazz and got some kinda weedy folk music, but it was well-played. The menu was middle of the road, but everything we had was also well-played. The lamb dish I had, in particular, was very good. This seems to cater to an...More

Somehow trip advisor always forwards future customers’ questions to raters rather than the restaurant itself!! Not sure what private dining means. It’s rustic and busy but if you get a window table, it could be romantic.

Rack of lamb is about $40 and it goes down from there. Not cheap, but well worth it.

Seven nights a week, local bands take the stage at Montreal's hottest Jazz bar and bistro. Modavie's spirited setting sets the scene for a night of great tunes, top dining and generous pastis toasting. The bistro's far-reaching wine menu hits just the right notes and helps round off succulent lamb, fish, beef and inspired pasta dishes.
