The good thing about expat pubs is that they really don't know how bad the home country pub food is and inadvertently produce a superior product which is what mckibbins does with their bangers and mash. First of all, it's an Irish pub and bangers and mash is not Irish fare so there's less competition from the mother ship than... More

Can never go past a good Irish pub! They had tasty food at a good price. There was live music playing, lots of people and it was a good atmosphere. Overall a good night.

The fish and chips are great. Sit at the bar and enjoy a beer from the large selection. Watch a little soccer and waste the day.

the seafood chowder here is fantastic, i ordered a cup which turned out to be a pretty decent serving!. nice selection of import beers. my burger was overdone and upgrading to a delux did not help, too many onions, mushrooms had no flavour so save yourself the extra 2 dollars and get a bowl of chowder. apparently there is entertainment... We stopped in tonight for a couple drinks and some of the guinness wings as per a recommendation. The wings were delicious some of the best I've had in Montreal. Great beer on tap. Reasonable prices. The bartenders that served us were awesome, the atmosphere was great. This is a great spot for a date or to go for a... More

This bar has three levels going on the weekends : a lower level for a more quiet atmosphere, an upper level for live music, and a third level playing music with a DJ. Great atmosphere on all levels and great selection of beers. The band I heard last month on the second floor was probably one of the best live... More

Popped into the pub for a couple of pints and some food. Both were great. Highly entertaining watching both the locals and the bar staff interact. Was made to feel very welcome by both and felt like I had been going in there for years. Loved the three old men at the bar, Comedy Central, couldn't stop laughing. Let the... More

I loved the Guinness Deluxe Burger. Probably the best burger I've ever had. Service was very good, and we really loved the atmosphere of the place. It is possible to watch hockey games here (I doubt there are places in Montreal where you cannot), but you have to be there on time as there are tables or maybe even areas... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
